Man crashes stolen car into Templeton power pole

A 53-year-old man led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase through Templeton on Friday that ended when he struck a power pole on Township Road in his parents’ stolen car. [Tribune]

Gregory Harrison’s parents informed officers that their white Toyota Prius had been stolen earlier on Friday. A CHP officer spotted the vehicle near Las Tables and Bethel roads.

Harrison did not stop for officers and headed west on Highway 46 to Township Road.

Driving at up to 50 mph, Harrison lost control of the vehicle and hit a PG&E pole at about 1:37 p.m.

Officers booked Harrison into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of felony vehicle theft and evading an officer.

A guy steals a car that belongs ti his parents, loses control at speeds up to 50 MPH and crashes. And he’s in a Prius?


His parents call the CHP bu it sounds a little late for tough love.


The icing on the cake would be to find out this loser was homw schooled. You can’t make this stuff up.


When are we gonna wake up and reinstate the draft? Might have the best 2 years this guy ever spent.

For almost a decade, it wasn’t extraordinary or unusual for people in their 30’s and 40’s to still stay under their parent’s nest, nor people in their 40’s and 50’s to return under their parent’s wing.

This kind of news is on the red light round up daily. What is so special about this guy of his crime? And why the hell did he steal a prius, if you are going to steal a car at least make it a porsche or beemer?

His age. The story really is about his age. Does he look old enough to know better? A Prius with a full tank of gas is better than a Porsche/Beemer with an empty tank any day…

When I first heard about this, it was “Man steals parents’ Prius, crashes into power pole.” I assumed it was 18 year-old, not someone my age! What the heck?

Good grief, who steals a Prius? Why not a motorized wheelchair or a Vespa.
