Drunken driver flees officer with kids in car

Jorge Cabrera

A 21-year-old man was arrested after a stop for failing to have his children in seat belts turned into a high-speed chase through Shandon shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday.

Jose Cabrera sped through Shandon neighborhoods running stop signs and causing a motorcyclist to collide with a vehicle. The biker suffered minor injuries when he was ejected from his bike.

The car chase ended when Cabrera crashed into a boulder. He then deserted his children and took off on foot hopping fences and running through backyards.

CHP officers found Cabrera hiding near the Shandon riverbed.

Officers booked him into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of felony child endangerment, DUI and a felony warrant.

The focus should not be on LE or race but on the perpetrators actions. A common tactic by lawyers is to turn the conversation away for the real issue and unlawful act.

The first commandment “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” condemns those who worship any other than the biblical Hebrew God, Yahweh. (Deut 5:4) Racism? You bet!


God forbids marriages with those of other tribes. (Deut 7:3) Bigotry? Yes!


If you hear of a city where another god is worshiped, then destroy everyone in the city (even the cattle) and burn it down. (Deut 13:12-16) Pure bigotry and racism, praise!


Our God will kill the Egyptian children to show that he puts “a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.” (Exodus 11:7) Can you spell “bigotry and racism?” Sure you can!


Do not allow others to worship a different god. God commands to conquer them and destroy their religious property. (Exodus 23:24) Pure racism!


The above RACIST and BIGOTRY acts by OUR God are but a few represented within scripture. Our Hebrew/Christian God has allowed Christianity to be a racial- superiority religion to any other belief system, period! Our Bible is loaded with divine orders from our beloved God to kill those of other ethnic groups and to purge their ranks of false worshipers. God is racist when He continually ordered the massacre of women, children, and infants who happened not to have been born in the nation that he had chosen to be his “special people.”

I think we all base our observations by the totality of what we see and hear causing our defensive instincts to spring up and be bias at times. I am guilty of that myself and in some cases it has saved or protected me.

But what I have personally learn in my lifetime is, you can never really tell or know the qualities of a person “by appearance alone” even if they wear an expensive 3 piece suit.

I’ve been in a hit and run car accident, and left bleeding by the side of the road, by Hispanics that were never seen again (I suspect they were illegals). I guess you people think that is a racist statement, but citizens usually stay and give you their insurance information. In my mind, that’s looking at behavior, not skin color.


Remember, the CHP officer in this case was also Hispanic. This case had to do with someone who runs when stopped for a seat belt violation. If you read the KSBY version of the story, the officer suspected he was on meth and marijuana.


Tatts? Reminds me of the time a tatted man’s picture was in the paper, and people were commenting about the gangster. Someone wrote in, upset that everyone assumed because he was Hispanic, that he was in a gang. Then someone else pointed out the tatt across his forehead that said MS-13.

Slowerfaster. I am definitely against the California Dream Act for this reason: We should instead provide a fast track for children of illegal immigrants who have graduated from a California high school to become citizens. Once they are citizens , then they can receive instate tuition and grants and scholarships. Then, when they graduate from a college or university, they will also be able to work in the US legally, something they can’t do under the Ca. dream act. They will also be able to get a Ca. driver’s license and vote. Sorry, I think the Ca. Dream Act is a sad joke that taxpayers will finance.


By starting programs to “aid” people here illegally that do not result in legal status, we not only encourage more illegal immigration, we perpetuate a two tier society of “them and us” which encourages non-integration into American society.

We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was “legal” and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was “illegal.” It was “illegal” to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler’s Germany. Even so, I am sure that, had I lived in Germany at the time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers. If today I lived in a Communist country where certain principles dear to the Christian faith are suppressed, I would openly advocate disobeying that country’s antireligious laws.

As to the chase, I bet that the CHP was trying to make sure this guy didn’t get back on the highway so he could crash at high speed and kill lots of people. Just my guess. I remember a collegue (LE) telling me approximately in the late 1970″s that the policy in pursuit changed allowing the officer discretion to cease the pursuit if there was apparent the fleeing vehicle would harm innocent people (externally).

Its hard to second guess this one, I am sure that Jorge Cabrera actions surprised the officer.

Another thought is the officer have no idea whether those kids were his or kidnapped.

Just thoughts, neither pro or con to anyone.

It is very odd, if you are racist, you see racist through your own eyes and it is preceivible to the others.

A neighbor of mine I have known for approximately 25 years use to work for a friend of mine, a very good person.

His son is 6 feet tall and is loaded with tatoos, built like a fighter, he doesn’t know me, my pastor told me to introduce myself to him and I did with heart and eyes of love as if he was my own son which I feel “sincere”

He treatedme like a long lost uncle, but when I think about it, what if I did not know him and stereotyped him as a thug, he would have seen it in my eyes and behavior.

So, go out the world with a loving heart, let you and them decide the outcome and set your own presidence!

When I see a picture of what appears to be an Hispanic person in this forum, I can count on posts like Citizen’s that are sprinkled with racism. Sorry, but with kids in the car, a chase should not have ensued…especially not with the children not strapped in their seatbelts. This “Rambo” attitude put the children and other drivers at greater risk.


Obviously, Cabrera created the situation; but whoever the LEO was compounded it and it could have resulted in a much greater tragedy.

I have to agree. This guy is 21 which means he had very young children in the car. When the LE saw the way he was driving to get away from them, running stop signs and leading them on a high speed chase, they should not have pursued. When it’s obvious that a runner is putting other peoples lives in jeopardy, BACK OFF, it’s not worth catching a drug dealer if it costs innocent lives. I should think the guy on that was injured on the motor cycle would have been a clue to forget the pride and catch the guy later.


I feel very sorry for those young children. They deserve to be loved and cared for by their father. I’ve never heard of a parent putting their children in imminent danger like that and again, the children weren’t strapped in and the LE had to know that the only way they were going to catch him was if he crashed, SHAME ON THEM, not a good job, it’s no thanks to them that the children weren’t seriously injured.

Most likely all the charges but one will be dropped. I’ve seen way too many cases of child endangerment that have been dropped once the felon gets in the courthouse. I wish we had a law that child endangerment can not be dropped when drugs/alcohol/weapons/reckless driving etc. are involved.
