Tradition lived on in Paso Robles Wednesday as the annual cattle drive through city streets signaled the start of the California Mid-State Fair. A riderless horse was led along the route in memory of the late George Randolph Hearst Jr., chairman and president of the Hearst Foundation who died June 25 at the age of 84. A three-mile trot for about 50 head of local cattle ended at the Riverside Avenue entrance to the fair
