SLO man arrested for attempting to murder his neighbor

Police arrested a 59-year-old San Luis Obispo man for allegedly attempting to murder his 46-year-old neighbor early Sunday morning following an argument over a cell phone.
Shortly after midnight, officers responding to calls of a disturbance at the Bullock Garden Apartment complex discovered Edmund Nungaray near the open door of the victim’s apartment.
Inside the apartment they discovered a woman who was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Officers performed CPR on the victim who is currently listed in critical condition at French Hospital Medical Center.
Police said though acquaintances, Nungaray and his allege victim were not romantically involved.
Nungaray was charged with attempted murder and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
