Atascadero student busted for concrete cursive

December 12, 2012

By DANIEL BLACKBURN

At least he can write. An Atascadero High School student was removed from class on Dec. 4 and arrested by local police for allegedly scribbling his name in fresh concrete.

The student, who is not being identified by CalCoastNews because he is a minor, was booked and now faces a court date. One witness said he was handcuffed by an arresting officer before being driven to the police station.

Several parents believe the police action was an abuse of power and that officers should have waited untill after the school day concluded to arrest the young man at his home.

Atascadero police officials declined to discuss the incident or reveal charges, saying the department “is not commenting on this ongoing investigation.”

The youth wrote his first name in the concrete at Atascadero Junior High, at a new bus stop, apparently leaving adequate clues for investigators who then traced him to his classroom.

The student subsequently wrote on his Facebook page following the incident: “Sweet. Got called out of class and arrested… I rode in a cop car to the station.”

Friends commented on the site, one writing: “Shouldn’t have done your last name.” Another said, “I saw you riding in the back of the police car.”

The student said he did not put his last name into the cement.

Asked if he would get community service for his transgression, he wrote back: “Nope. Go to court.”

School administrators also declined comment on the incident.

Is this REALLY how we want our police officers serving and protecting us?????

Yes, that and everything else. If you want vandalism ignored, say so, get the city council to tell the police chief that this is not a priority. Done deal.

The problem here is clear: the brat’s parents. If I’d been caught by the cops doing ANYTHING, and I almost did a couple times, criticizing the police for doing their job would not have occurred to my parents. And yes, kids got pulled out of class by the police when they figured out who they were looking for and where they are. Suddenly now, WHAAA, your traumatizing my little precious angel. The kid’s parents attitude is the reason society is been increasingly populated with f’heads. This kid is laughing, even if restitution is ordered the parents will just pay it, and probably further complain.

Writing your name in wet concrete is a time-honored tradition in American culture. Ridiculous all the way around.

smartmouth says: “Writing your name in wet concrete is a time-honored tradition in American culture. ”

Writing your name in wet concrete and not getting caught is a time-honored tradition in American culture.

FIFY

This overreaction by the Atascadero police was stupid and disgraceful. How many of us have written our name or initials and the date in wet concrete. Save the “example” for real crimes.

I would not go so far as to call it “stupid and disgraceful”, but it certainly could have been handled better.

If I had to guess, the officer(s) involved will be awarded “Chicken &hit of The Year” Award.

I think it was great that he was arrested in class. Good example for the other kids to see. He ought to get community service punishment and pay for damage hourly. Take his computer away until damage is paid for. Maybe clean storm drains or work at the dump. Hard work, he needs to sweat a little.

Certainly won’t hurt him. Then he can brag to his friends he only got community service at the dump. Or he can be put on guard duty at the old city hall. Anyone he turns in for drugs or bad behaviour gets him closer to using his computer again.

Next time he breaks the law the police can pull his fingernails out and his friends can watch. Might be a better punishment but we don’t live in a country that would allow that. Thank God.

Hate to see what Saddam would do.

Cindy you are truly a disciple of our Lord. You are refreshing.

Spirit Drained,

Now you’re talking bible principles, praise! This unruly child should also be beaten as our scriptures support to set a further example.

“He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” (Pr.13:24)

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” (Pr.22:15)

“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.” (Pr.23:13-14)

And, most importantly so the true Christian can keep their children on edge; “An undutiful child will become very miserable. Never let him expect any peace or comfort.” (Pr 20:21)

Wait a Holy minute here! Cindy is a disciple of the Lord? Huh? How can that be true when she was trying in vain, and turning herself into a pretzel, to erroneously state that we don’t have to follow the Old Testament Laws, where in fact, we do? Her silence was deafening below to certain passages that I had brought forth supporting this fact, for obvious reasons of course.

Key phrase; Jesus did not come to DESTROY the Old Laws (Matthew 5:17). Furthermore, “But that doesn’t mean that the law has lost its force. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of God’s law to be overturned.” (Luke 16:17) Example, can you imagine in not following the old laws of the Ten Commandments, or telling the Supreme Court to remove them from their building? BLASPHEME!

No, she is NOT refreshing in any way. She spews forth her Devil Speak in front of Jesus, when in biblical fact, Brother Ted proves her wrong ad infinitum.

Let us pray for her.

I believe! I believe! I’ve put my hands on the screen and have seen the light.

Where do i send my love gift?????

Where do i send my love gift?????

to the innocent victims of our aggression in Iraq,

innocent blood crying up from the ground.

This comment was purely out of humor. You 42 people are waaaay too serious. Try to laugh once in a while. Brings health.

I still think the criminal that placed dirty, despicable, crude comments should be held accountable for all the writing in Atascadero cement from now on. He gave the other kids and immature adults the idea.

How dare him put his name in the fresh cement. The kid is innovative, and bright. I’ll bet he spelled his name perfectly. Thank you school board.

Many blessings to all.

FaceBook will get you everytime.

This is absolutely a waste of time. Truly pathetic on the authors part. Why write an article like this? What purpose does it serve? Little minor things like this happen every single day. Thats what kids do. They make mistakes, but was it really worth stalking him on Facebook? This article is a desperate cry for attention. The only person who really cares about this article are people who know him. You guys have a very informative website that exploits a lot of people. Articles like this will surely be your demise. Continue slandering adults, but you should really leave minors alone. I could see an article if he drew something explicit in the concrete, but it was his name. Again, little insignificant things happen like this at a day to day basis at the high school. You definitely need to get your priorities straight when posting articles.

Scarlet,

“I haven’t read one post that says there should be no consequence for defacing public property”

There needn’t be, because he was arrested. Get it?

Extreme tactics? Why don’t you wipe his little butt, wipe his nose, and coddle him yourself? There is nothing like an extreme example that was initiated, and for others to see.

Namby pamby.

I haven’t read one post that says there should be no consequence for defacing public property. But who can defend the extreme tactics used? Call the parents and student in to the station and establish repayment or community service. No cuffs. No squad car. No ridiculousness. Just handle it professionally and reasonably. Is that so difficult to do anymore?

My exact thoughts Scarlet. The LE is way over the top these day’s with things like this.

Cindy,

Ohhhhh, poor little baby boy! Way over the top? Why don’t you join Scarlet in her namby pamby coddling ways! It’s called “discipline” and setting an example.

You ungodly women are all alike. Start learning the dicipline of children in the bible that goes way farther than what happened to this little snot nosed kid!

An example, Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.” (Matthew 15:3-4)

This kid is getting off easy compared to what Jesus stated above!

Amen.

Stop taking everything out of context Ted. You do it all the time and it’s getting old. Try including Mathew 15:1-2 rather than starting at 15:3 where the context is lost. You’re such a hypocrite.

Cindy,

Do you realize in how we true Christians get so tired of your perceived notions on what the bible actually says? I, for one, am getting really sick of you rewriting God’s word for your own benefit because you’re embarrassed of what it actually states!

It matters not what Matthew 15:1-2 states with hand washing, because in continuing context, it’s the simple FACT of what Matthew 15:3-4 states that is a different topic, and a previous COMMAND by God, get it?! HELLO?

For your information in the future, Jesus, by proxy, condones the killing of children that curse their parents because Jesus does not trump His father’s commands that state this biblical FACT! (1 Corinthians 11:3)

The “tradition” that Jesus speaks about is located in Leviticus 20:9; “For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.”

Barring the fact that you’re blatantly going against Timothy 2:11-12 as a woman, you’ve been “schooled” once again by Brother Ted. As a woman, learn to remain silent as the passage in this paragraph so dictates to you.

You’re welcome.

Jesus was not advocating for the law. Jesus was making a statement about what a bunch of hypocrites the Pharisees were. We are no longer under the law as that is why Jesus was here. It was to free us from the law and rather offer us grace from it. You’re such an ignorant hypocrite where scripture is concerned. Don’t bother quoting text at me until you know how to read it in it’s context.

Cindy,

Your biblical ignorance has no bounds!

The old ruse of the New Testament superseding the Old Testament pertaining to Jesus abolishing the old laws turns into a quagmire since then it has to be posited that God changed His mind. Huh? “For I am the Lord; I change not” ( Malachi 3:6). Now what?

To the point, Jesus NEVER revoked the Old Testament laws as He orders His followers to abide by the Law of Moses ( 1st five books of the Old Testament): “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments (Leviticus 20:9) and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:17-20)

Relative to Jesus’ words above, has heaven and earth disappeared yet? No, they have not. Therefore, clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the Second Coming.

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” ( Proverbs 30:5-6 ) Key words; “every word of God is pure”, which includes God’s TRADITIONAL COMMAND noted in Matthew 15:3-4 that refers to children that curse their parents should be put to death, period! Get it?

Cindy, please, for your own sake, remain silent upon biblical narratives that you completely are not aware of, nor understand in a godly way. I can’t bear to watch you flounder around like a fish out of water any more, okay? Thank you.

LOL, LOL, LOL, I can see how this would be difficult for you, so I will help you one more time but then that’s it. You’re too ignorant of scripture for me to continue having to explain everything. Let us examine what you quote here about what Jesus said regarding the law.

” “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. ”

Jesus say’s he came to “fulfill” the law. When something is fulfilled, it is completed, finished, done. Jesus also tells us that the law will not disappear until everything has been accomplished. Jesus fulfilled the law and all was accomplished when he gave himself as the perfect and last sacrifice. The shedding of his blood released us from the law and replaced it with grace. I could go into more by explaining that this is also expounded upon by the prophets in the old testament. That is why Jesus also mentions them along with the law. Start with Isaiah 53..

See how easy it is when you understand your scripture ;)

Now go study and come back in a few years.

Cindy, please do not feed the trolls. Thank you.

Agreed, rOy. The Trib’s chat board has become unearable because of their annoying troll and frankly, this CCN board often gets hijacked by a rude pseduo-preacher. Not sure why the moderator allows his annoying comments which 99% of the time have NOTHING to do with the story.

*unbearable

Pasoparent5,

In part, the narratives where Jesus condones the killing of children that curse their parents is most certainly within the context of this story. This is because I stated that it’s good that no one has put this Junior High School kid under biblical laws! Get it? If they did, the least of which, he would be beaten!

“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.” (Proverbs 23:13-14)

Read your bible and learn it! Jesus is watching you.

You’re right r0y. I forgot for a second, I always ignore him (99% of the time) but for some reason, he managed to irritate me today.

Cindy,

Don’t put it in an irriating manner, put it in the context that I am schooling you upon biblical axioms.

You can thank me later.
