Neighboring county seeks drone site

A drone in action.

A drone in action.

Ventura County officials are angling for a contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to become one of six test sites nationwide for unmanned aerial vehicles — drones. (Sacramento Bee)

A legislative committee in Sacramento is hearing testimony today regarding the proposals of both federal and county representatives in a presentation called “Manufacturing for Global Aviation: California’s strategy to win a federal designation as an unmanned aerial vehicle test site.”

Drones have been used liberally in military strike applications against alleged terrorist groups and other perceived threats in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and elsewhere. And recently, the question of drone use for law enforcement and other civilian applications in this country against U.S. citizens was the subject of a 13-hour filibuster by Sen. Rand Paul, a Libertarian Republican from Kentucky.

Paul suggested the government could use the technology for not only surveillance, but for “taking  out” individuals or groups considered to be some kind of threat.

So, what would the drones be used for? They would be great to take out Panga boats, but California bleeding hearts would think it inhumane to target foreign drug smugglers. How fast do you think the Ca. legislature would pass a law to protect the smugglers. Then, the question is what would the drones be used for?

So let me get this straight… people freak out if the government might fly a few drones in this county, but they are ok with us sending drones to foreign countries and having them take out “bad guys” (and sometimes killing innocent civilians in the process) without a trial. Can you imagine how you’d feel if a foreign country sent drones here to take out people they felt were terrorists, and occasionally killed an innocent bystander?

So what this basically means is the life and rights of someone in another country is worth a fraction of someone’s life here.

Exactly! That’s why we have U.S. border patrol agents shooting people on the other side of the great wall of America! And all the top U.S. judges have to say to the families of dead men women and children is “We have laws that protect us against these kinds of claims” before they throw the case out. Until human rights and ethics are restored to our government, I will be ashamed of what this country has become.

Sad to say it, but these un-manned air craft are just a small part of an enormous arsenal of highly advanced weapons systems that people are just now getting a glimpse of. If the general public even knew a fraction of what kind of weapons exist today or the research and development that has been underway for the last 25 years, people wouldn’t want to pay taxes anymore.

You can say THAT again.

Think “microwave” weapons.

Think human/animal cloning using DNA from any dead person or currently living person, and manipulating the code within strand for a being with a predisposition for any purpose desired… have no proof of this actually being done, but the capability to do so is there and I know it!

Also.. does the prospect of man-made earthquakes and tsunamis sound ludicrous? Put a nuke or air-to-surface M.O.B. down the mouth of a volcano or on the ocean floor and predict the outcome in your head.. the best weapon I imagine would be one that could be disguised as an act of God.

I hope you’re kidding

Thank God.

It’s really unfortunate to be aware of what’s going on and still be paying your taxes because so few people have a clue that withholding your support from pure evil will still get you singled out, destroy your reputation, and thrown in prison. I have no problem paying my share for the public good, but that’s not what we’re being asked to do when we pay taxes.

I wonder what would happen if every American citizen just randomly stopped fighting with each other over petty differences, asked our government in one big voice to keep no secrets from their employer since we pay them so well.

If it were every single American’s belief that all men (women included) are created equal, there would be no upper class, or middle class or lower class. There would only be one American class, and poverty, homelessness and hunger would be a thing of the past…. but for some reason people cant imagine a society where one human being is not permitted to climb on top of another.

This is where I draw the line. The general population have not been terribly concerned about the use of drones, thinking that they would only be used in SPECIFIC circumstances. If that is the case, why do they need to set up official test sites? Why do they need to implement a drone in an area on an ongoing basis. Go ahead and send your drones but it better be at a high altitude or I am bringing it down. That’s how I’m going to vote, screw writing my representative.

even at that high level a drone can see you mooning it.

Remember those CNN videos from the warhead mounted camera on hellfire missile being guided through windows? I’m just going to leave it there…

don’t worry… until Cal Poly gets one! ;)

Why are you thinking in such small terms? I think it’s closer to 10% in Cyprus.

The Navy has been quietly testing drone aircraft at Camp Roberts for over a decade.

The next thing you know there will be a government grab of 3% of your savings.

Change is coming

They’ll take your savings, but they’ll leave your stock portfolio alone. It does indeed pay to be rich.

The key is to invest in drone futures.

Uhhhh….. 40% death tax? Income tax? sales tax? fines, levies, “fire prevention” fees…. Who the hell can save anything earning an honest living? If the government only wanted 3% this would be the greatest country in the world!

i don’t think so. this pushes the envelope just a little too far. test sites never go away. time to draw a line in the sand. i will write my representatives.
