San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies arrested Franklin, 69, last month for multiple charges of child molestation and child pornography. Franklin is charged with abusing three relatives, now ages 3, 13, and 15.
Prosecutors allege Franklin abused the victims multiple times over the last decade and used the 3-year-old to create child pornography. The San Luis Obispo District Attorney’s office says he molested the 15-year-old for a period of six years and the 13-year-old for eight years, and he began abusing the youngest victim when the child was a 2-year-old.
Franklin, who appeared in court Monday, has pleaded not guilty. He is represented by attorney Gus Galambos.
Currently, Franklin is in San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $2 million.
Franklin’s family has owned the hot springs since the 1960s.
