Gather Wine Bar closes in Arroyo Grande

Owner of the business Kari Ziegler said the wine bar was profitable, but the Manetta Bennet family, which has owned the property at 122 E. Branch St. since the early 1900s, decided not to extend the lease because it wanted the space for personal use.

Ziegler said that she does not plan on moving Gather Wine Bar elsewhere, but rather opening a food-focused business in the Village.

“We’re still working out the details, but we do want to stay in the Village of A.G. and are looking to do a café and market idea,” Ziegler. “And because Arroyo Grande is a very child and family-friendly place, we want to capitalize on that.”

Gather Wine Bar was in business for more than four years. It evolved into a popular nightlife destination where patrons could listen to live music and snack on finger food.

I never went to the wine bar (and I’m probably not their target market); but I wish them all the best!

Unfortunately, most “downtown” places have confiscatory rental/lease agreements, so prices are beyond reasonable and that always translates to higher consumer costs.

Still, I have shopped in the village of AG more than downtown SLO, and I live in SLO.

Because we desperately needed a Doilies Are Us shop in the Village.
