Report of planned Paso Robles child abduction deemed false
December 20, 2013
The report earlier this week that a man was planning to abduct a child from a Paso Robles school is unfounded and has no merit, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.
Paso Robles police detectives determined that a Stockton man who reported the abduction plan to the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Tuesday embellished information he received from a female acquaintance in San Luis Obispo County.
Detectives interviewed the Stockton tipster, the San Luis Obispo County woman and the man alleged to be planning the abduction.
Police concluded that the woman never gave information about a planned abduction and cleared the man suspected of planning the kidnapping of any wrongdoing.
The California Highway Patrol Air Operations Unit, Stockton Unified School District Police Department, Lodi Police Department and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
The Paso Robles Police Department encourages parents to remind their children that strangers may try to trick them and that kids have rights.
