Fire breaks out at Paso Robles fairgrounds
February 25, 2014
A storage building at the Paso Robles Event Center caught on fire Monday evening.
Flames sparked around 8:45 p.m. in a metal building that holds maintenance equipment and is located in the northeast corner of the property. Firefighters contained the fire by 10:01 p.m., and kept the building standing and prevented the blaze from spreading elsewhere on the California Mid-State Fairgrounds.
Investigators have not yet discovered the cause of the fire. Cal Fire is handling the investigation because the fire occurred on state property.
A total of 31 firefighters and three fire chiefs responded to the fire. The Paso Robles, Atascadero, Templeton and San Luis Obispo County fire departments worked to put out the blaze.
No injuries occurred, and no livestock were on the fairgrounds at the time of the fire. Investigators have not yet determined the amount of property damage and loss.
