Seizure suspected of causing crash
February 15, 2014
A 19-year-old man suffered major injuries when he crashed his car in San Luis Obispo on Friday after a suspected seizure.
Shortly after noon, the driver was headed south on Higuera Street and slowing down for the curve near the northbound on-ramp of Highway 101 when the vehicle veered to the right and collided with a guard rail. Witnesses said the car accelerated to about 60 miles per hour before leaving the roadway, traveling about 400 yards, crashing through a fence and a tree and then down a steep embankment into a creek.
Emergency medical personnel used the Jaws of Life to free the driver. He was then transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. His name and current condition are not being released at this time.
