Suspect gets away from Santa Maria police chase
March 13, 2014
A driver in a reportedly stolen vehicle successfully fled the pursuit of Santa Maria police Wednesday night. [KSBY]
Officers began to follow the vehicle after it was reported stolen. A police chase then began around San Ysidro and Miller Streets. The pursuit reached high speeds on the streets of Santa Maria, and the officers determined it was too dangerous to continue chasing the driver.
Shortly after the officers ended their pursuit, they found the vehicle abandoned on the 700 block of East Main Street near Von’s market.
Officers later arrested someone with an outstanding warrant who may have been connected to the pursuit, but they have been unable to find the driver. The driver is described as a Hispanic male adult who is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 250 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing.
