Deputy busts man in SLO for hiding heroin in groin area

A search of Rio Vista man driving in San Luis Obispo Wednesday produced about 40 grams of heroin and a digital scale, both hidden in the suspect’s groin area.
Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, a San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s K9 deputy stopped a pickup truck traveling on Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo for a traffic violation. The deputy searched the truck, as well as the driver, 29-year-old Jacobcharles Michael Collins of Rio Vista.
The deputy found a knife in the driver’s seat of the truck, as well as the heroin and scale on Collins’ body. The heroin had a street value of about $5,000.
A passenger in the truck had a small amount of heroin in his wallet. The passenger, 32-year-old Jason Michael Gauthier of San Luis Obispo, was on felony probation.
The deputy arrested Collins on charges of possession of a controlled substance and transportation of a controlled substance. Gauthier received a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
