Accomplice in Atascadero bank robbery pleads no contest
June 6, 2014
A Paso Robles woman pleaded no contest Thursday to participating in the robbery of an Atascadero bank.
Tonya Young, 33, is accused of driving the getaway car during the April 17 robbery of Chase Bank in Atascadero. She will receive a second degree robbery conviction and will face sentencing next month.
Police offers arrested Young and Santa Maria resident George Gonzales shortly after the April 17 robbery. Gonzales was hiding in the trunk of the car Young was driving.
Gonzales is also accused of robbing banks in Arroyo Grande and Pismo Beach prior to the Atascadero Heist. He faces three counts of both robbery and burglary.
Gonzales has requested a change in venue for his court proceedings, claiming the amount of media coverage of his case warrants the move.
