A fire broke out at Morro Bay Power Plant Thursday morning and burned some of the plant’s vents. [KSBY]
The fire occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. while workers at the plant were taking apart machinery, according to Morro Bay fire officials. The workers were using tools, including cutting torches, and there was a large pile of oil soaked papers and metals.
Workers tried to extinguish the blaze before firefighters arrived but did not succeed in doing so. Firefighters put out the fire shortly after arrival.
One structure at the power plant also caught on fire, but no one suffered any injuries.
