Jorge Zamora, 39, allegedly entered Kmart around 9 p.m. with an unidentified man who grabbed merchandise and left the store without paying. Employees chased the suspect out of the store, but Zamora flashed a knife, allowing the pair to flee.

Police stopped and arrested Zamora, a Santa Maria resident, a short distance away from the store. They did not locate his cohort during the stop, though.

The outstanding suspect is described as a white man with brown hair between the ages of 20 and 30.

Officers are requesting that anyone with information about the suspect contact the police department. Anonymous tips are acceptable.
