Five-hour standoff in Grover Beach

Following a five-hour standoff, a Grover Beach man surrender to police at about 2 p.m. on Monday on the 600 block of Trouville Avenue.
Shortly before 9 a.m., the man’s girlfriend called police to say he was not acting rational. Police then evacuated other residents from the home and blocked the street while they attempted to negotiate with the man.
However, the man, who was wielding a large kitchen knife, caused a ruckus in front of his home.
After talking with his sister on the phone, the man surrendered. Emergency personnel transported him to a local hospital for evaluation.
