Five-hour standoff in Grover Beach

carFollowing a five-hour standoff, a Grover Beach man surrender to police at about 2 p.m. on Monday on the 600 block of Trouville Avenue.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the man’s girlfriend called police to say he was not acting rational. Police then evacuated other residents from the home and blocked the street while they attempted to negotiate with the man.

However, the man, who was wielding a large kitchen knife, caused a ruckus in front of his home.

After talking with his sister on the phone, the man surrendered. Emergency personnel transported him to a local hospital for evaluation.

should read, “…surrendered to police…” (1st ¶).


Not acting rational… maybe he just did his taxes and saw what the new healthcare law did to his refund?


Mental illness is not something to make fun of. Why don’t you go down to the local cancer ward and make fun of people that are ill there–see how that flies.


You missed his point — he was being sarcastic about Obamacare not making fun of the mentally ill.
