The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the northbound lane of the highway by the Santa Rosa Street offramp. California Highway Patrol investigators are still trying to determine why the man was on the freeway.
Investigators say the victim may have jumped from the Santa Rosa Street overpass or may have attempted to cross the highway by foot. The CHP has not yet released the man’s name.
None of the drivers involved in the crash suffered any injuries. The crash led to a closure of the northbound side of the highway for about three hours.
The CHP is requesting that anyone with information about the crash contact its San Luis Obispo office.
