UPDATE: Lenny Jones’ bail has been increased from $500,000 to $1 million.

ORIGINAL: Arroyo Grande’s 2014 Citizen of the Year was arrested Monday for allegedly kidnapping, penetrating with a foreign object, and molesting two girls under 14 years of age. The alleged molestation took place while the girls were attending a birthday party at Lenny Jones’ home in March.

Jones, 63, has been a leader in the community heading multiple boards. Until he resigned a few weeks ago, Jones was the president of the Woods Humane Society, the president of the Pismo Coast Association of Realtors, past president of the Rotary Club of Arroyo Grande, past board chair of the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce,  and was involved in Arroyo Grande in Bloom and the Arroyo Grande Tree Guild.

Local sources told CalCoastNews that this is not the first time Jones has been accused of child molestation. More than 20 years ago, Jones and a business associate parted ways after it was suspected Jones had inappropriately touched a child, sources said.

A few weeks ago, Jones stopped working in his Arroyo Grande real estate office and told friends he was checking into a 30-day rehab center for an addiction, a source said.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant at Jones’ home on the 500 block of Cameo Way in Arroyo Grande. At 8 p.m., detectives served a second search warrant at his real estate office.

Detectives arrested Jones on charges of kidnapping, child molestation and penetration with a foreign object and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail set at $500,000.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending, according to a press release.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying any other potential victims in this case by calling the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office at (805) 781-4500.

Was Jones onboard at Woods in July 2011 when Jacob Imel planted a voyeur camera in the bathroom? I thought it was an off the wall location for doing such a thing, and now two and two go together.

Jacob lived above my friend, who after just moving in, complained to public housing for two years about Jacob having neighborhood children over to play and be on his computer. This episode finally got him removed.

I can’t believe what I am reading in the postings of this article relative to Lenny Jones, how unchristian-like can they get?! Why aren’t the true Christians posting that we’re to forgive and not judge Mr. Lenny Jones? Where are they?

We Christians are to forgive Mr. Jones;

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15)

We Christians are not to judge Mr. Jones;

“Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?” (James 4:11-12)

The people here that are judging and not forgiving Mr. Jones, BEFORE ALL THE FACTS ARE KNOWN WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, are going directly against biblical teachings as the aforementioned verses so state, and have turned into nothing but ungodly gossipers and busybodies!

“Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not.” (1 Timothy 5:13)

Here’s a fact for you Ted.

They don’t double someone’s bail to $1million for nothing.

To forgive someone that violated a child??? There must be consequences for deviant people. If someone killed your spouse, would you just let them walk back into society because you forgive them?? I believe in forgiveness when it’s appropriate.

Morticia,

“I believe in forgiveness when it’s appropriate”

You DO NOT have the option that you mentioned above if you’re a true Christian as I mentioned in my initial post, and also the following passage, period!

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25)

Furthermore, Mr. Lenny Jones will be forgiven, IF HE IS GUILTY of his crimes, by confessing his sins, so saith our Lord; “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:19)

You have to understand that we Christians who follow ALL of the bible are always forgiven in many ways, therefore, there is no incentive not to sin, praise! If Mr. Jones takes heed of the 1 John 1:19 verse above regarding forgivenss, then we’ll get to meet him in heaven someday, won’t that be wonderful?

Ted,

It is disappointing that you are so afraid to admit you are an atheist here and instead hide your true nature by quoting scripture.

Why don’t you quit pretending to be a “Christian zealot” and share with everyone here your true faith

Ted,

The major world religions and their beliefs about God. Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, and New Age…

Not everyone is Christian and there is nothing wrong if you are not. We still have the freedom to choose a God we believe in and shouldn’t be shamed if it’s not the same God.

I hope one day you will open your mind up to other religions and be compassionate to those that are different from yours.

Morticia,

My chosen God of the Bronze Age is Yahweh, the Hebrew God of the Christians. Besides, He doesn’t allow me to leave Him once I’ve committed to His doctrine.

“All who would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.” (2 Chronicles 15:13)

Ted,

I respect your religious beliefs and ability to forgive human monsters who commit crimes against children. As Lenny may very well be if proven in a court of law. However, our country is not run by religious beliefs, it is run by our legal system. If someone breaks the law, they must pay the price for their actions against the victim, family and community. This does not mean you cannot forgive them, it simply means they must pay a consequence for their actions. Forgiveness does not equate sweeping the act under the rug.

Mr. Jones is innocent until proven guilty. And if he is proven to be the monster he appears to be, I will not loose one minute of sleep if he is sentenced to prison for life. Predators who prey on children have no place in society – in my opinion.

Also remember, your religion, while a wonderful thing, does not represent all who live in this community.

-Justice

Ted is NOT a Christian. He hates Christians and does everything he can to slander them. Hence his screen name.

Justice,

“Forgiveness does not equate sweeping the act under the rug.”

I never said that forgiveness should sweep Mr. Jones’ acts upon children under the rug if he is guilty. Being as a true Christian, that reads ALL of the bible as intended, I take exception to our legal system. Subjectively, as a Christian, too much money is spent by the tax payers on this legal system with all of it’s loopholes, getting off on a technicalities, etc. Justice was swift under our Christian Hebrew God’s word in the bible and this type of justice should be enacted today.

As an example, if a women was found not to be a virgin upon her wedding day, she was brought before the elders of the city and stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 22:13-21) If a child cursed their parents, they were put to death. (Exodus 21:17) It was that simple. This is just another reason why the bible should be in all public schools, and the separation of church and state be damned!

The problem is that Christianity does not represent all who live in this community! The Hebrew God that created everyone should be given respect, and his word followed to the letter as I have mentioned in the select passages given.

Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!” (Acts :5:29) Who is any Christian to usurp God’s word in all respects?!

Ted,

Interesting opinion, however you happen to live in the United States of America in 2015 where we have freedom of religion. A country where the majority of the people continue to agree with law. The majority also continue to agree church and state must be separate. You are well within your rights to home school children (if you have any) and teach them your beliefs.

Perhaps you should consider moving somewhere you can revert to stoning citizens and mob justice. It seems to be working well in the middle east.

After all your ranting on this thread I am not sure what your point is other than to quote scripture and profess that your religion is the only righteous one. Forgive him, stone him, stone the children because they may no longer be virgins after he has violated them. Not really sure how your “forgiveness” for all translates into barbaric forms of murder in god’s name.

My stance is, a girl under 10 and a girl under 14 were allegidly violated in many horrific ways and there may be more charges to come. If this is proven to be true and he is the monster who did it then he should be sentenced to the maximum our law has to offer. Not to mention the pain he will endure being a child molester in prison – the lowest of all offenses.

Good luck to you Ted, I hope you can find a way to harness your frustration into something positive for our community rather than being an internet troll.

-Justice

Ted — God forgives us if we do the following:

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness

Acts 3:9 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out that times of refreshing may come from the LORD.

Christians are to forgive in the following Bible verse:

Luke 17:3-4 says, Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, “I repent”, you must forgive him.

So we are to expect a confession and repentance from the person. At this point we don’t even know if he will even admit he did anything wrong when all the evidence is presented. I am sure the charges will be serious since his bail was doubled. He does have this type of situation in his past. Please put forgiveness in the proper perspective. The justice system has to do it’s process and it will be decided legally.

braintrust,

Thank you for proving my point with additional bible passages. If Mr. Jones is a true Christian, and his is found to be guilty, then Mr. Jones will be forgiven by Jesus and other Christians like you and me will get to see him in heaven to discuss this matter if you want too.

Once again, if one is a true Christian, the legal justice system doesn’t hold a candle to our Christian Hebrew God’s inspired words relative to how we’re to treat Mr. Jones as mentioned earlier in the verses in question.

Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!” (Acts :5:29)

it would be better to hang a millstone around their head and throw them in the sea! stumbling children: it’s a very frowned on by the Hebrew God! some restrictions may apply

Ted I am extremely disturbed by what I just read. I believe in God, but not religion. Religion is corrupt and used for the wrong reasons and shaped to fit the need of an individual. Im not here to bash Christians. I find it highly unlikely that good ole boy Lenny didnt do what he is accused of, and it makes me curious as to why you are defending him? Of like mind? There is not one thing ok about touching a child, period. I have a hard time believing God thinks it ok. No matter what mo’s do, get treatment for, what ever, its still in their mind, in their genetic make up, you cant fix it, EVER. So go ahead and say what you like to me or about me, Im a victim and I also work with men just like this, I know how they operate, and lenny is a prime example of this. Have a good day, hope you sleep well.

Ted,

Your Kidding right? laying it on thick I’d say Ted..

Trib article states bail is $1 million.

Was it increased due to seriousness of allegations?

Bail was increased to $1 Million because they finally have searched his COMPUTER…he is a PEDAFILE!!!!

justbewhare, and AG-Gal,

Please, let me know where you purchased your “crystal balls” that allow you to know that Mr. Jones is blatantly guilty of said crimes! In this way, it will save me a lot of bible reading in the future.

Thank you.

Ahhhh, Ted…the answers are not in a crystal ball.

The answers are all in your book, read on!

That has to be true ,they searched his house & his office, why would he resign from all these Boards, and the Doubled his Bail, I say Guilty AS charged !

I’m sure a judge saw all this stuff… He has had History of this stuff the old Open Robe trick .. He just better hope He get a nice room mate at CMC, say did you see my awards.. I’m sure his use of Booze will Un- clog his mind upon not being able to get a drink.. I’m sure he will say it was the booze or the drugs that made him do IT..!!! This will un-clog his mind as well as his .. Yabow!! or wazzo if you will..

No cure for this sickness. Seems be shared by a few notable judicial monsters. Nothing less than life in prison or complete castration.

Russ J, complete castration does nothing to protect future victims, or even these alleged victims, Lenny used a foreign object. It was not a penile insertion, so I say life in prison.

For some reason they don’t have to use their genitals to get satisfaction, sick but true.

Castration lowers sex drive. So regardless of what is used by the perpetrator for thrills, castration lowers the chance of that behavior.

This isn’t about one’s “sex drive.” This is about being a hideously screwed-up mental case that cannot control themselves.

Castration often leaves the individual more angry/bitter and ultimately even more dangerous.

From Slate

Surgical castration, also called orchiectomy, involves the physical removal of the testicles, which produce 95 percent of a man’s testosterone. However, the small amount still produced by the adrenal glands could be enough to allow some sexual function to remain. According to one study from the 1960s of about 1,000 German sex offenders who had been castrated, 65 percent men immediately felt their libido plummet, but 18 percent were able to have sex 20 years later. Based on the small amount of data that exist on this subject, it appears between zero and 10 percent of sexual offenders who are surgically castrated repeat their crime.

That’s still probably a lesser percentage of repeat offenders than if they weren’t castrated.

I think the 8th amendment forbids cruel and unusual punishment

This is a good reminder that people who appear to be wonderful can have a dark side. It pays to look hard beyond public image before putting too much trust in anyone.

It is also a good reminder of how effective publicity and propaganda are in masking faults by playing up positive things. Something to think about come political campaign time.

It’s a crazy world we live in these days huh? [sarcasm]

It’s a perverted world we live in these days. And getting much more perverted. Sin. That is the problem.

Maybe this man just wants to be recognized for what he “is”. A pedophile. Why not? Just 20 years ago, who’d a thought that the homosexual would become what they are today? A “married” couple? Raising children no less?

I find it so amazing that so many of you find this deviant behavior so abhorrent. It is truly amazing.

So, are the 29 “thumbs down” on my earlier post from the people defending the right to have 3rd graders read pornographic books from the school library?

WTF is up with the central coast cities in recent years. They elect someone citizen of the year and a year later, they have some ugly thing happen. First Gearhart and now this? Agreed give him his day in court but if true in the end, maybe we should have the cities vet out some of these nominees more before hand.

Citizen of the year is chosen by the Chamber of Commerce.

IMO it’s a good ‘ol boys ‘n girls club– honestly they think more highly of themselves than anyone else does. These says it’s more about self promotion than anything else.

We shouldn’t take them nor any of their selections too seriously. It’s a shame.

I feel like we’ve entered the Twilight Zone. This is so bizarre that I can’t wrap my head around it. I hope the girls get the support and counselling they need. I hope that this can get settled without going to trial but the D.A. has got to protect the most vulnerable members of society.

Agreed, it’s also very disturbing to learn the Sheriff’s office is looking for more victims.

There were to many years between incidents, of course they have to look for more victims, because sadly there will be a lot more, but only a few will come forward.

If they are good they groom the victim so well before the actual act, they won’t turn the perp in. It is such a sickness the way it can take them years before they will do the deed. Honestly these are probably family members, or very good long time friends who’s kids got molested.
