Firefighter injured, building destroyed in Cuesta Fire

UPDATE 10 a.m.: The Cuesta fire remains at 3,500 acres and is 70 percent contained.
ORIGINAL: A firefighter was injured this week while fighting the Cuesta Fire which continues to burn south of Santa Margarita.
The firefighter fell while battling the fire in steep, rough terrain. His injuries are not serious.
In addition, a barn was destroyed and two structures are currently threatened. Cal Fire officials have not yet determined if the barn was located in the Santa Lucia wilderness or on the Santa Margarita Ranch.
Nearly 2,000 firefighters continue to battle the blaze started Sunday afternoon by sparks from a vehicle suspected to have started five fires from Buellton to Shandon. Firefighters are dealing with steep terrain, hot weather, moderate winds and extreme drought conditions.
The burn area remains at 3,500 acres with 55 percent containment.
