Apparent suicide follows ax attack in Los Osos
September 5, 2015
A man reportedly committed suicide after attacking a woman with an ax in a Los Osos home Wednesday evening.
The man is believed to be in his 20s, and the woman is 58 years old, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. The woman suffered wounds, but survived.
Around 8:30 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a dispute between a male and a female at a home in the 400 block of Woodland Drive. When deputies arrived, the woman said the man attacked her with an ax.
The woman managed to escape and run to a neighbor’s house for help. An ambulance transported her to a local hospital.
Shots were fired inside the home during the incident, a sheriff’s office press release states. Responders then set up a perimeter around the home.
The suspect was later found dead in the backyard with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators say there are no outstanding suspects, and it was an isolated incident.
The victim’s condition is not known, according to the sheriff’s office. She was alert, though, and she was talking with investigators.
