San Luis Obispo police arrested a 25-year-old Atascadero man for the brutal assault of a 20-year-old woman police found covered in blood Friday morning.

Shortly before 7 a.m., the victim was leaving her apartment when she was allegedly confronted by Moore. Moore shot the victim with a Taser, forced her to the ground and began punching her in the face, police said.

The unnamed victim fought back stabbing Moore multiple times in the upper body with a small knife she had on her key chain. Moore then fled the scene.

About 15 minutes later, officers found Moore, who the victim said was a stranger she had noticed several times before, hiding in the creek area behind Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

“Moore was unknown to the victim, however, she had seen him in the apartment complex on two other recent occasions in the early morning hours,” San Luis Obispo Police wrote in a press release. “She had called SLOPD on one of those occasions because she was concerned about his strange behavior.”

The victim suffered moderate facial injuries and lacerations to her hands. Both Moore and the victim were treated and later released from the hospital.

Officers arrested Moore on charges of attempted murder, stalking, burglary, assault and assault with a stun gun and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $500,000.

Too bad it wasn’t a .22 on her key chain!

Derrick Moore will probably be defended by none other than Ilan Funke-Bilu. Ilan will arrange for a specialist to determine that Derrick is mentally unfit for trial. Or, conversely, another plea deal will be struck at the last moment just before jury selection begins. I say, SEND DERRICK TO WASHINGTON DC and let him become Obama’s problem.

The Punisher: Come on god, answer me. for years I’m asking why, why are the innocent dead and the guilty alive? Where is justice? Where is punishment? Or have you already answered, have you already said to the world here is justice, here is punishment, here, in me.

Where did the assault occur? The Trib said 1000 block of Foothill, all student apartments, most notably Stenner Glen, basically a babysitting service for WPOD’s from So/NorCal who didn’t get into a 4 year but will not attend a local JC while living with their parents, who are rich enough and willing enough to get rid of the brats ASAP. The resulting environment is an attractive nuisance to the local WPOD’s.

Would love to read the comments from the thumbs-downers. My statement is consistent with the views of local police, property managers, residents, and anybody who doesn’t work at Cuesta, a highly dysfunctional institution that serves only it’s employees and justifies itself based only on the outside money they bring in.

O.k. I’m one. Your comment of attractive nuisance. To me that implies that she shouldn’t have lived there and that by living there it is her fault and she brought it upon herself.

Your turn.

How did I imply that living “there” was her fault? I was just commenting on a reality you are apparently unfamiliar with. I am.

Didn’t your mother ever teach you “Just because everybody does it doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do?”

While the city recently approved a number of raises for themselves, it also should have considered cleaning up the streets of what we used to consider vagrants. Time and time again, innocent citizens are the victims of those SLO chooses as part of their sanctuary. Enough is enough.

This cannot be done at the municipal government level, and they will continue to migrate to good weather and benefits.

Wow, if this is the same kid I met at a City of SLO function, then his dad is or was a utilities staff member at the city of slo. This coincides with the other former utilities staff whose sons are convicted sex offenders or that is registered sex offenders. Boy, public agencies and their children. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

So where is the blogger who always states something about yet another Hispanic male?

Crimminals are not just white, black, asian or hispanic, they are all just scum of the earth.

I hope she gets the help she will need to get past this terrible incident.

Well, duh! This guy 99.9% probably isn’t an illegal alien. We can all look at a photo and know that number drops drastically with certain profiles. Those who are honest, at least.

Illegal aliens that should not be here commit plenty of crime that shouldn’t be committed here. The media and radical left hide the statistics by not releasing nationality. Hence, the concerned public which has a right to know when illegal aliens commit crimes are left blind. Hence, people ask questions and are right to do so. Hence, radicals play the race card when it is not racism at all. Hence, a boorish loudmouth like Trump becomes popular because he doesn’t cater to the race-card nonsense. 80% or more of Americans oppose illegal immigration, but 80% of those are afraid to speak out and be labeled racist.

This is so awful, this young woman did the right thing, but could the police protect her? I don’t know. We all worry about strangers. I’m so sad for her having to heal from this man’s actions. He knew he was going to do it, she suspected, but couldn’t protect herself. Thank goodness for the small knife on her keychain, that must have helped some.

The SLO police are too involved “protecting” downtown from the drunks to provide protection in neighborhoods. Otherwise they’d have heeded the report of this crazy guy’s antics the first time. They seemed able to find him quickly AFTER the attack, so why not before?

@hijinks Minority Report. Loved that movie, if only we had the authority to arrest someone for a crime they may commit sometime in the future. What a concept!

Brave young woman.
