Bicyclist killed in accident with truck

A 60-year-old bicyclist died after being hit by a truck Monday on Highway 1 near Cuesta College, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 1 p.m., the man was headed northbound on Highway 1 when he veered to the left and was hit by a half-ton truck traveling at about 45 miles per hour. The driver of the pickup is not suspected of any wrongdoing.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol officials are not releasing the identity of the bicyclist until his next of kin can be notified.
The accident forced the closure of Cuesta College’s Hollister Road entrance for about three and a half hours.
