First Solar recruiting workers
November 29, 2015
First Solar is hosting a two-day job fair to recruit approximately 500 qualified local workers for the construction of a 280-megawatt solar plant in Monterey County, 27 miles east of Paso Robles, off of Highway 41.
The job fair will be held in King City from 1 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 4, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 5, at the city’s recreation center. Available positions include fork lift operators, skid steer operators, heavy equipment operators, water truck drivers, post, module and tracker installers and general labor.
California Flats Solar, a subsidiary of First Solar, is currently completing the permitting and environmental review process for the project. The Monterey County Board of Supervisors voted to approve a conditional use permit earlier this year.
When fully operational, the project will generate enough solar energy to serve the needs of about 100,000 average homes.
