ambulance 4A 54-year-old Santa Margarita woman died Sunday after an oncoming driver drifted into her lane and caused a head-on collision. [KSBY]

The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Joni Kinkel. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Parkhill Road in Santa Margarita.

Around noon, Melvin Fuentes-Ruano, 20, was driving a 1992 Honda Prelude northbound on Parkhill Road. Fuentes-Ruano lost control while going around a wet and slick curve.

Fuentes-Ruano drifted into the southbound lane and collided head-on with Kinkel’s 2005 Dodge Stratus. Fuentes-Ruano suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Sierra Vista hospital.

Another person was possibly injured in the crash. Both vehicles sustained major damage in the collision.

Initially, a Cal Star helicopter responded to the crash. The helicopter turned back after it was determined Kinkel had died.

ditto. mea culpa

The first question most ask is how this could have been avoided. Unfortunately few correlate the funding of welfare over of the needed road improvements. This is a growing problem! Think about our growing population, would you fund jobs for people who want and need work or fund programs for those who don’t want to or can’t work? This is the cultural choice that our local gov makes and people die on either side of this choice.

So you want to cut Welfare and fill some potholes with that money? No wonder people hate the GOP. Yeh lets make it all about those “entitlements”

“This is the cultural choice” Bullshit it is not a black or white question:

“Also known as the false dilemma, this insidious tactic has the appearance of forming a logical argument, but under closer scrutiny it becomes evident that there are more possibilities than the either/or choice that is presented.”

Not a word about the trillions in corporate welfare, tax breaks etc but lets cut those stamps, they might buy a candy bar Ohhh NO!!!

GOP the party of tax breaks, logical fallacy’s and ignorance.

Sad tale, indeed.

However, I cannot but help think:

2005 Dodge Stratus VS 1992 Honda Prelude. Head-on. …and the guy in the Prelude not only survives but only has moderate injuries?

I would have thought the 10-year old Stratus would be safer than the 33-year old Prelude.

Not enough info to make that comparison. Seat belts? Air Bags?

Sorry, 23-yr old… three types of people in the world, those who can count, and those that can’t.
