3 Arroyo Grande golfers heading to Kid’s Golf World Championships

Next month, three of Arroyo Grande’s top junior golfers will head to the U.S. Kids World Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Elias Moncrief, 6, Shane Moncrief, 8, and Luke Montoya, 10, have qualified to compete in the world’s largest and most prestigious youth golf tournament. Set for Aug. 4 through Aug. 6, more than 1,500 participants from over 50 countries will compete in the world championship tournament.
The players have played local and regional tournament throughout California and internationally. More recently, Elias Moncrief finished first in his division in the California State Championship, the same event where Montoya finished 2nd in his age division. Shane Moncrief has frequently finished on top at local tournaments.
Montoya also played in the European Championships in Scotland where he finished 8th out of 50 countries and 75 participants. This is his second trip to the world championships.
