Grover Beach man caught trespassing with pot and a pistol

A Grover Beach man carrying marijuana and a pistol jumped a fence on Friday and trespassed onto his neighbor’s property. The neighbor responded by conducting a citizen’s arrest, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.
At about 1:30 p.m. Friday, police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in the 200 block of N. 5th Street. When officers arrived, they contacted the suspect, James Hayden Wylie, 52. Wylie was in front of the home.
Officers detained Wylie while they investigated the incident. A search of Wylie’s backpack produced a loaded semi-auto pistol and marijuana. Officers later searched Wylie’s home and found a homemade booby trap.
Police arrested Wylie and charged him with trespassing, prowling, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition and placing a booby trap. Officers booked Wylie in San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $30,000.
Wylie currently remains in custody with his bail set at $60,000, according to the county sheriff’s office. The Grover Beach man is facing an additional charge that has not been disclosed.
