Man killed in Arroyo Grande hit and run

ambulance 4A 68-year-old Santa Maria man was killed Thursday morning when a intoxicated driver crashed into his car which was parked on the shoulder of Highway 101, according to the CHP. The crash occurred near El Campo Road on the outskirts of Arroyo Grande.

Shortly after 2 a.m., the victim was parked in a Ford behind 32-year-old Jason Ross who was having trouble with his Volkswagen. The two men were waiting in their cars for a tow truck when William Mobley, 34, crashed into the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s Ford then smashed into the Volkswagen.

Following the crash, Mobley drove southbound on Highway 101 and then exited on Los Berros Road.

Officers arrested Mobley in Arroyo Grande and booking him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of manslaughter, hit-and-run and felony DUI. His bail is set at $100,000.

The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of his next of kin.

You think this is bad, just wait until they legalize marijuana in November. Of course the marijuana lobby will ignore the large increase in the number of fatal car accidents in Washington and Colorado since it was legalized there.


if you read the article it hints that he was helping the guy with his Volkswagen that was having car trouble.


The bars close at 2:00 am. People leave with a belly full of booze. They climb into their cars. Their blood alcohol levels keep rising as they head on down the road. Then they finally encounter something to collide with….. This pattern is repeated over and over and another person is dead, so sad and so disturbing.


I hope that we can find out what led a 68 year old man on to the side of the highway at 2:20 a.m.
