On Nov. 19, 2015, Matthew Sebastian Agrey, 44, stabbed his 49-year-old tenant at a home on Fourth Street in Cayucos. After the stabbing, Agrey fled by foot. Deputies located him about 45 minutes later.
The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
In September, Agrey pleaded no contest to one count of assault with a deadly weapon. An enhancement for causing great bodily injury was stayed pending the completion of Agrey’s sentence. Agrey must also pay $1,000 in restitution.
David Vogel, Agrey’s attorney, said Agrey was in the process of evicting the woman. Agrey was upset about the destruction of his house, and he just lost it, Vogel said. The stabbing was wholly uncharacteristic of him, his attorney added.
Agrey is currently in San Luis Obispo County Jail awaiting transfer to a state prison.
