Anti-Trump protests continue in SLO and in the nation

November 13, 2016

For the second time in several days, hundreds of protesters marched Saturday in San Luis Obispo to show their disapproval of Donald Trump. For the past four days, throughout the country people have protested the presidential election.

At 3 p.m., demonstrators met at the government center on Monterey Street and marched through downtown chanting phrases such as: “We reject the president-elect.”

Protestors marched in cities including Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco and Fresno.

While most protests were peaceful, in Portland, Oregon police arrested 19 protesters on Saturday during an “unpermitted” march, police said. On Friday, a Portland protester was shot in a confrontation on a bridge.

In Los Angeles, 180 people were arrested during anti-Trump protests.

Some protestors, such a radio host Dave Congalton, have asked Trump to denounce an increase in racial violence they blame on his election:

“In Petaluma, confederate flags were on display at a Veterans Day parade,” Congalton wrote on Facebook. “In Michigan, a man demanded that a young woman remove her hijab or be set on fire with a lighter…In Minnesota, racist, pro-Trump graffiti painted inside a high school…the Southern Poverty Law Center has counted hundreds of instances of hateful intimidation and harassment since the election of Trump (that’s less than one week).

“And yet the man in Trump Tower remains silent, more preoccupied by debating whether he’ll move to the White House or remain in New York.

“So we march. We protest. We speak with one voice and we’ll continue to speak out–until Donald Trump realizes the nightmare his rhetoric has created–and joins us in speaking out against it. That’s what a President does.”

On the other side, Trump supporters such as Roger Freberg argue that hate and violence against Trump supporters is being ignored by the local media.

“I remember the Republican riots after Romney lost… oh yeah, that never happened,” Freberg responded to Congalton. “A search has found that much of that didn’t happen… but the attacks on Trump supporters are real. Trump supporters are not setting fire to buildings or rioting… your on the wrong side of history once again Dave.”

As an American of hispanic heritage and a surname to match, I am appalled by these blatant law breakers demanding anything from real Americans.

These mensas (the derogatory definition, not the smart person org.) do not even realize that when they are protesting, the news cameras, photophers and I are capturing them on film. I personally take notes of these self admitted law breakers and privide their names and photos /screen captures and send them to my local ICE office. Only difference is, starting 1/20/17, my due diligence as a caring AMERICAN may actually start paying dividends in the deportation of these admitted ILLEGAL INVADERS.

For every deportee, at least one class space opens up for an American child that is due a top shelf education by actual birthright not blathering beliefs that just because they made it to this land illegally, any of this (look around) is theirs.

America has democratically spoken that we will secure our borders, we will enforce immigration laws and we will become a sovereign nation again.

That is reality, regardless of the left leaning agenda that has been stopped in its tracks by the adults in the room that support and elected a straight Republican government.

This was not by accident.

And smile, I’m watching you.

(Sorry about the triple post, this Apple ipad keyboard is not my favorite)

I’m sure society is much appreciative of your stellar efforts, cc. Particularly your uncanny ability to persuade people to give you their names. What brand of pinhole camera do you use?

Why aren’t you witty (in your own mind).

I recently moved up here from Orange County and it was not uncommon for those ILLEGAL INVADERS to provide their names in articles or on camera. They are so comfortable in thinking that they are beyond the long arm of ICE that they stupidly state their name.

That would be the obvious way to get their names, the other is when I’m on scene with them and i dupe them into giving me their name which is not hard because these are generally not smart people from the get go. Ideological yes, smart, no.

I think I found another

Millions of Americans are damned tired of being taken for granted by the arrogant, sexist and entitled inside-the-beltway Washington elite and their minions. They’re also tired of being personally attacked when their views and beliefs (no matter how legitimate they might be) don’t match those of the political elite.

Electing Trump was a huge middle finger to these elitists, thanks be to God!

I’m damned tired of hearing “I’m afraid.” Afraid of what exactly? That Trump will do a good job? That he’ll get this country rolling again? That his performance will repudiate much of Obama’s legacy? That Clinton will end-up in the stir?

It’s time for the protestors to practice what they preach in terms of tolerance and love. I’m not holding my breath…

Afraid that young women WHO DO NOT WANT TO BECOME MOTHERS will under his Pro Life Stance.

These young girls do not give their babies up – they struggle!

And Pence – that’s gonna be a fun fight to watch. He believes in ‘conversion therapy” to bring the gays all straight again.

Trump just said he’s ok with gay marriage.

I’m guessing Trump is gonna have fun with the term limits stance also.

First, as irrelevant to this topic as it is, I could not care less what Congalton thinks about anything.

The protesters are out for good reason. They are, in part, reminding this nation and the world that Trump is what he says he is and has said he will not change. He has proven it. There is virtually no way he could change it. He is a racist who has excluded black people from his properties. A sexist who hires women because they can be of use to him and sometimes they let him grab them and he can intimidate some of them. He got a good ones, though, in Kellyanne Conway, a glib woman who would do any republican who pays her. Katrina Pearson, the stereotype of your friend’s crazy ex-girlfriend. Former Lt Governor Betsy McCaughey who constantly forgets to chip off her plaster face mask and has yet to learn how to cobble together a coherent sentence.

Trump believes anyone of a religion other than the one he professes is inferior and should be viewed with suspicion. He is a nationalist who does not recognize the sovereignty of any other nation on the planet and that America is not great. He would not take off the table invading Europe. He gets off on mocking disabled people. He says he will uproot millions of people and throw them out.

The protesters are supporting the working class Trump voters who bust their butts in hopes they could, at least in theory, become rich like him. They can not. Trump is where he is because of the millions from his daddy and the bailouts he got from daddy. Those voters say they despise the elite. Nothing like Trump, the very personification of elite.

The protesters decry the lies and deceit that has resulted in this spotlight on the arcane electoral college. This abomination.

The majority does not always rule in the United States of America. It did not this time. The majority of voters cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton.

Respectfully ironyman2000 , Trump is a not racist. He has not excluded black people from his properties. Trump is not a sexist. Trump does not believe anyone of a religion other than the one he professes is inferior. Trump recognizes the sovereignty of other nations. Trump does not mock disabled people. Trump did not say he will uproot millions of people and throw them out. Trump is where he is because he is a brilliant business man. Trump, is not the personification of elite.

The electoral college is not an abomination or arcane. The USA is a Constitutional Republic. Take away California’s one sided vote for Clinton, the majority of voters cast their ballots for Trump. Trump as with Obama today will be my president. He is my hope and I pray for what is to come by his presidency.

Don’t pray too hard Otis. You will get “change” from Trumps policies. Just maybe not the kind you want and expect.

Please check your “facts” Otis; as of today, the count is 2 MILLION more votes for Hillary: Trump LOST the popular vote..Yes, by all means, abolish the electoral college.

Most respectfully, catdude. Hillary had a net plus national vote over Trump by 671, 246. In California Hillary had 6,000,586 to Trump’s 3,211,386 giving a net plus of 2,789,200.

Take away Hillary’s net vote of 2,t89,200 in California from the national vote for Hillary of 671,246 and Trump has more votes by 1,500,000 votes.

It is a fact as stated that “Take away California’s one sided vote for Clinton, the majority of voters cast their ballots for Trump.”

This may explain why liberals in California are so unhappy with Trump’s national dominance while ignoring California. Their vote for Hillary was almost 10% of Trump’s national vote. Mind boggeling numbers.

Yeah brah! Like totally.

Almost a week and allready Trump is “draining the swamp” “A spokesman for House Speaker Paul Ryan says he is happy for his friend Reince Priebus after the chairman of the Republican National Committee was named White House chief of staff by President-elect Donald Trump”

“President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus as his White House chief of staff and bretbart conservative media executive Stephen Bannon as his senior counselor.”

“The Latest: Trump tells supporters to stop harassment”

Are you kidding? He named not only corrupt Chris Christie, but also sleeze Rudy Guiliani, and disgusting Newt Gingrich (both of whom cheated on 2 of their 3 wives) to his cabinet. Instead of draining the swamp, he’s filling it with the usual infestation of gators!

Kidding? No but I did forget the sarcasm tag.

Also Trumpkins new hire, bretbarts white nationalist Steve Bannon:

“I’m a Leninist … Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.”

“Are there anti-Semitic people involved in the alt-right? Absolutely. Are there racist people involved in the alt-right? Absolutely. But I don’t believe that the movement overall is anti-Semitic.”

Family values.

There’s an easy solution for all those who feel their opinion is more important than ours who support Trump. Go somewhere that you have it better. Find “your” president in another country.

The process of electing the President is the same as it has been since the Constitution was written. You have lots of rights in America (whether you have them lawfully or not), but you do not have the right to change the outcome of the election because you don’t like it. You will not prevail, Trump won. No one is forcing any of you to live here.

We are the only democratic country that votes this way.

Basically, our vote in California is worthless – about 1/4 of a vote from a redneck from Texas!

Let’s remind people the definition of illegal.

Let’s also take a moment to review the 1st amendment. It can be found in the Constitution.

You mean the 1st amendment that applies to everyone and not just the protesters?

As far as I know, there is only one.

Isn’t it against the law to sit in an intersection for 15 minutes?

“That’s what a president does.” So why isn’t the president doing that?

Congalton is quick to point out supposed instances of Trump supporter acts of hatred, but where is his outrage over the hatred being shown by non Trump supporters?

Flying a Confederate flag is freedom of speach, just like burning the American flag is. I don’t agree with either, but thats the way it is. Did the person flying the Confederate flag destroy the property of others, or what David?

Interesting that you misspelled “speach” the same way Trump did in his tweet storm.

It is “speech”

And everyone in America has a right to it!

Righteous comeback brah. Like, totally bitchin.

When all you have is trying to be the spelling police going for you, you’ve got nothing.

Less about each other, much less.

The five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost.
