Heidi Harmon has won the San Luis Obispo mayor’s seat, beating incumbent Jan Marx by 47 votes, according to unofficial results posted by San Luis Obispo County elections officials Wednesday.

The stunning conclusion to the race comes 15 days after the Nov. 8 election when Marx led by 726 votes, or 52.46 percent to Harmon’s 47.06 percent. While Marx led in early mail in ballots, Harmon led among poll voters and late mail in ballots following several robocalls promoting Harmon for mayor by activist Kevin Rice.

On Wednesday, the San Luis Obispo County Clerk Recorder’s Office finished counting votes for residents of the City of San Luis Obispo.

In another close race, SLO County’s Measure J, a transportation tax initiative, continues to fail by a narrow margin.

As of Wednesday, 65.96 percent of voters had approved the sales tax initiative, and 34.04 percent voted against it. A 66.67 percent vote is required for it to pass and the increase in late voter support is marginal.

Countywide, there are an additional 6,634 more votes to count. The SLO County Clerk Recorder’s Office has scheduled the next ballot counting for Nov. 29.

Question: What business or legislative experience does Ms. Harmon have? What does she bring to the table, except anybody but marx? How is she prepared to solve the myriad of issues facing SLO City?

IMHO, Just being a nice person is not a qualification for public service. Just look to the recently ousted Ms. Capps, the “nicest” legislator with the empty portfolio. Name one positive accomplishment she has to her many years in office?

Name one person with a resume that has ever satisfied all of the people. We see people voting Republican after disaster bush and the success of Obama and now you’re worried about experience? logic, problem solving, reason and passion will make her Great! Mock her, whine, throw sand but STOP assuming a history of anything can lead to anything. look at Hill and Gibson. they have experience. Would YOU want them to by your daughters boss?

Guess the DCC did not pad the absentee ballots enough for Marx? Ooops.

Everyone should celebrate by keeping their trash cans in front of their house haha

And go out and feed the ducks, and buy styrofoam cups, and BBQ outside. But quite honestly, from what little I know about Heidi from reading her web page, I think she would have voted in favor of all these prohibitions as well.

Yes, heard recently that the city communications department was notified that they are operating some of their equipment in violation of FCC regulations, the person in the communication department just said talk to our lawyer. Yes Christine Dietrick needs to go too.
