On the morning of Oct. 1, a woman called 911 and reported three bombs would go off at Camp Roberts that afternoon. Authorities placed the base on lockdown, and multiple agencies from San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties conducted an investigation.

Officers did not find any explosives, and officials lifted the lockdown that evening. CHP and Army National Guard investigators continued a probe into the incident for nearly two months.

On the afternoon of Nov. 30, officers arrested Joyce Ann Perkins, 59, of Paso Robles at Camp San Luis Obispo. Officers charged Perkins with felony falsely reporting a bomb threat and booked her into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

Perkins’ bail was set at $20,000. She is no longer in custody, according to the sheriff’s office website.

Did she need the day off?

I knew Joyce for many years at CSLO as she was the Work Order Dispatcher for the Camp’s Engineering Department. I worked for a different agency on base that was a tenant of CSLO’S.This is so out of character for her as she was very nice and helpful.
