Central Coast activists plan a “Day Without a Woman” events

Central Coast activists are planning a general strike on March 8 as part of the “Day Without a Woman” demonstrations. Proponents are asking women to take a day off from work, school and shopping.

If required to work, promoters are asking supporters of the “Day Without a Woman” strike to wear red.

“In the same spirit of love and liberation that inspired the Women’s March, we join together in making March 8, “A Day Without a Woman,” recognizing the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system–while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity,” according to the group’s website.

In addition to the strike, organizers of the SLO Women’s March are planning a March 8 demonstration. Proponents are asking people to meet at Meadow Park in San Luis Obispo between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Supporters will then march through San Luis Obispo.

In Santa Barbara, proponents of a “Day Without a Woman” have planned a rally at De La Guerre Plaza at 11:30 p.m. that will include, speakers, musicians, a knitting circle and free fitness classes.

“Women are striking to show what a day without women looks like,” according to a press release on the event. “The strike will highlight “the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socioeconomic system, while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment and job insecurity.”

Get used to this kind of activity. Every group who feels sad or slighted is going to be holding marches to make them feel better about themselves…

The smart people are the ones who figure out how to make money off this!

Workers who pick up an extra shift at the office to cover for some snowflake in the office, the person who designs the website for the protest, the person who figures out how to market the protest as an advertising opportunity, somebody who takes a little cart down to the protest to sell protest shirts and buttons, the hotdog vendor selling “comfort foods” and the cop who makes overtime to protect everyone while the protest goes on.

A whole cottage industry is waiting to be born!

Next thing you know, the millennials will be striking for housing they think is priced right. Or for night hiking. Or for some other silly know-nothing deal they want when they want it, which is right now. And SLO politicians will give em what they demand.

My day without work usually comes on Saturday and Sunday my regular days off from working. At times I must work weekends to make my schedule work. I will not protest that I have to work, only glad that I have a job. I will keep working so that I can meet my tax and fee requirements to support all of the dead beats.

so i guess the schools will lose another 400 k, the beat goes on. i smell another ballot measure to cover the cost of a day without women, illegals, gays, heteros, dogs, cats, etc.

I think this is all part of the entitlement generations that everyone (both sexes) expects to get the most for the least effort because it’s due them.

It’s true. People want equal results and feel compelled blame everyone but themselves when they don’t get them instead of taking a good honest look in the mirror.


Politicians love it because they have successfully divided people into blocks of voting sheep. That’s why they will always preach unity but tout division.

This is good news. I will have to get a steak to BBQ,a ice chest of cold beer,a new book to read to my kid.Then be able to watch something on T.V. that’s not the biggest Loser. A day without a Women, I think that’s why fishing trips were invented.
