Orange County to support Trump’s lawsuit against California

The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted in closed session Tuesday to join the Trump Administration’s lawsuit against California over its sanctuary state law, the latest move in a wave of resistance to Senate Bill 54 coming from the Southern California county. [Cal Coast Times]

SB 54, which took effect on Jan. 1, prohibits state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities and inquiring about an individual’s immigration status. Following the Trump Administration’s suit over the law, Orange County agencies have begun taking various measures opposing SB 54 as well.

Last week, the Los Alamitos City Council voted in favor of an ordinance declaring that SB 54 is contrary to the United States Constitution and stating that the city will comply with federal laws instead. Among other Orange County cities that oppose SB 54, Yorba Linda has decided to file an amicus brief to the Trump Administration’s lawsuit.

On Monday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, which also opposes the sanctuary state law, began a practice of publishing the dates in which inmates will be released from custody, which the agency said is intended to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

During its meeting Tuesday, the Orange County Board of Supervisors considered various possible measures opposing California’s sanctuary state law. In addition to ultimately deciding to join the Trump Administration’s lawsuit, the board of supervisors also adopted a resolution condemning SB 54.

Supervisor Michelle Steel, who introduced the resolution, delivered a statement explaining the measure.

“We cannot let the state begin cherry-picking which federal laws it decides to follow. As supervisors of this county, we all took oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and bear true faith and allegiance to it against all enemies,” Steel said.

A large crowd at the meeting split for and against the board of supervisor’s move to challenge California’s sanctuary state status. More than 60 speakers addressed the matter during public comment.

Following the meeting, State Sen. Kevin de Leon, who is currently running for U.S. Senate, responded with a statement chastising the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

“This kind of obsessive immigrant bashing is embarrassing to the county and its residents, and seems designed to court the approval of a racist president and his cronies,” de Leon said. “The county that gave us Prop 187 more than two decades ago is at it again with another unconstitutional attack on our immigrant communities. I am confident the courts will reject this challenge to SB-54, just as they roundly rejected Prop 187.”

In another contentious matter at Tuesday’s meeting, the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted to rescind a plan for potentially opening homeless shelters in Irvine, Huntington Beach and Laguna Niguel that could house up to 400 people. The Orange County board faced major backlash to the plan on Tuesday, as hundreds of residents, many of whom were bused in from Irvine, voiced their opposition to opening homeless shelters.

Wait a minute, Orange County is a bastion of Christian Conservatives that are to hold their faith’s family values that are vouchsafed by Jesus the Christ. Therefore, how can they be against the opening of Homeless Shelters for the poor and needy? Once again, pseudo-christians are totally ignorant of the scriptures, or they knowingly and Satanically disregard them altogether as being “Burger King Christians” where they want their Christianity “their way!”


JESUS SAID: “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” (Proverbs 19:7)


JESUS SAID:“For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.” (Deuteronomy 15:11)


JESUS SAID: “And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21) On a comical side note, when was the last time you saw a pseudo-christian follow this passage?


Hypocritical Christians talk about Jesus, pray to him, supplicate to him, tell others to join their faith, but their ungodly version of faith is far from the true teachings of Jesus the Christ, hence, they are blatant HYPOCRITES to Jesus’ teachings!


JESUS SAID: “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” (Mark 7:6)


One thing that is certain, since Orange County Christians are slapping Jesus in the face again by not following the “will of the Father in heaven,” relative to taking care of the poor, then they will NOT inherit heaven.


“Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

Ted… you obviously have a problem with Christianity…. so let me school you. To be a Christian means to be law abiding. Illegal immigration (the issue here) is not law abiding. So to harbor illegals is against God’s law. They can go through the process like everyone else. Then there’s no problem.

Not really, Christianity has a problem with their followers, in that they do not follow all of the Hebrew Christian Yahweh’s God’s word! Seriously, it pains me to have to “re-school” a Christian like you once again.


Regardless of your notion that one is to obey the laws of the land, the aforementioned statements that Jesus stated are still in effect on taking care of the poor, where you DO NOT have the authority to usurp his propositions, period.


Furthermore, this revealing passage presents itself regarding your misconceived notions: “But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) Surely you can understand this verse and what it implies relative to your response.

It is baffling how the state defines the sanctuary law as protecting immigrants, when it is clear that Orange County is attempting to protect citizens from criminals by having the fed remove those criminals. Most of os These lawmakers went to law school and have presumably heard of the supremacy clause, or have they?


Surprise, surprise, surprise! I wonder if he’ll demand the Armed Forces to pay for this in the name of “national security” as well, after all their rich… SLO, ya better get on board too, especially if you expect to continue as OC’s little brother!


“We the People of the United States, in Oder to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” This must be what Orange County recognizes and Governor Brown doesn’t.

We can all be proud of Orange County, as they are standing with the taxpaying public against traitorous politicians who want to give our state and tax dollars away to the illegal alien invaders.


We must support the work of ICE: Operation Safe Communities, and demand that our state government cooperate with the federal government to enforce our immigration laws. Remember, illegal is a crime, not a race.


Here locally, corrupt politicians like Adam Hill, Bruce Gibson, Caren Ray, Steve Lavignino, Alice Patino and Heidi Harmon seek political gain by betraying the taxpaying public, and we should abandon our support for these Un-American politicians.


One day the public will say enough is enough, and I would not want to be them when that happens. Go Orange County!

Senator De Leon — just WHO DO YOU represent???? The CITIZENS of your district or the CRIMINALS/INVADERS/CHEATERS — whatever you want to call them that have broken our laws?? When Gov. Moonbeam and his cronies crammed this “Sanctuary State” crap down our throats, opening us to all kinds of horrible outcomes, NOW they’re the ones whining and crying about following laws/rules? I’m NOT against immigration, my grandfather came here from another country, did not speak English, make a life for himself, but became a “legal citizen” —- we can all appreciate “LEGAL immigrants.” I for one will be writing and encouraging OUR SUPERVISORS to STAND UP against the “Sanctuary State” stupidity just as Los Alamitos and Orange County are doing. Instead of a “Sanctuary State” we need a “Sanity State” that uses common sense and puts it’s American Citizens first — not invaders!
