Atascadero man attempts to rob local methadone clinic

Kyle Walls

Atascadero police arrested a 21-year-old man on Thursday for attempting to rob a local methadone clinic. At the time, the man was out on bail for a previous armed robbery.

Shortly before 2 p.m., Kyle Walls asked an employee of Aegis Medical Systems on Morro Road for medication, while providing a false name. The receptionist confronted Walls, who then produced a note stating it was a robbery.

However, an alarm company notified police of the robbery attempt. Officers nabbed Walls as he was exiting the clinic, and arrested him.

Officers booked Walls into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on a charges of robbery and committing a felony while out on bail.

Earlier this month, Walls stole a bandana from the Chalk Mountain Liquor on El Camino Real, and then allegedly attempted to stab a clerk who confronted him about the theft. Officers arrested Walls on charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, and booked him into jail with his bail set at $60,000. Walls then posted bail and was released.

He currently remains in jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

This guy is a drug addict.

He could be your son .

Rehab is the only solution.

Thursday? Should be out by now under Gavin Don’t Surf’s No Bail policy. Also, one should be able to steal methadone and handkerchiefs at the same location to cut down on commute times and greenhouse gas emissions.

Can’t you see? This is just a cry for help.

The bail system is corrupt. Why should someone who has attempted a violent assault be running around free just because he has access to financial resources?

Lose the key this time

They better not give this dude Rehab ….he needs to do some serious time to get his head straingtened out …Hopefully some vocation training / skills so he can find a better path in life upon his release back to the free world

Why in the heck was he out on bail after an attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon earlier THIS MONTH? Whoever let him out should be locked up with him!

One of our kind hearted judges of the Superior Court is responsible for the low bail set for this creep.
