SLO County passes 900 coronavirus cases, with four deaths

July 10, 2020

San Luis Obispo has more than 900 confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths, as the number of new cases continues to rise.

As new cases have increased, so have requests for testing. County health administrators are asking those who are asymptomatic and not at high risk, not to get tested at this time. High risk includes healthcare workers, the elderly and those working at essential businesses.

“Help us use our testing resources wisely,” County Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein. “If you are an asymptomatic, lower risk individual, please do not seek a test at this time to help those who are most vulnerable get tested.”

During the past two days, there have been 60 newly confirmed coronavirus cases in San Luis Obispo County. Paso Robles leads with 18 new cases, followed by Arroyo Grande, Nipomo and Atascadero with eight new cases each.

Of the 905 confirmed coronavirus cases in SLO County, 616 individuals have recovered, and four have died. Of those still suffering from the virus, there are 10 people in the hospital — five in intensive care, and 264 recuperating at home.

I wish the County would grow a pair and show the demographics of who is getting this virus. Come on SLO, be transparent and help us prevent the spread of the virus. Show us where it’s being spread and who has it and where were they when they got the virus. I know the county health has that information. Why the secrecy?

Mr “bud”

You”support” police ,but you can not follow the rules.this is a anti social position that is not acceptable in this pandemic.do you want to be a law abbiding citizen or a pretentious you know what?

This is misleading in a couple of ways, there are not currently 905 positive cases, out of the 905 who have tested positive since the testing started, 616 have recovered leaving 289 currently positive. Also on the County’s own website they show the positives going up, but the number of people tested remains the same, 25,534 (been this number for a few days). Not possible. Someone is playing with the infection rate. One other thing, the four who have died had severe underlying health problems. Covid-19 is a very serious problem, but I just can’t figure out why people in Government are trying to make it sound so much worse than it is. Unless it’s because it’s an Election year, and they love making rules without having to pass laws.

Even though only anecdotal without a proven nexus, there was concern that the protests would cause a spike in County Covid cases.

Wallah, after the protests we have a spike in Covid cases:(

and mandated mask wearing does what exactly?

There is also a town in Colorado threatening up to a year in jail for violating the mask rules. The govt is testing you; seeing what you’ll put up with and they have been doing this for a long time. It started with school lockdowns when a crime was committed nearby. Parents kept from their children; children locked indoors until the nanny state says they are safe. These kids have become/will become adults who rely on the nanny state for safety and permission to exercise their God given rights and freedom.

Now, the same cowards who would defund the police and hate the military will rely on the police, and possibly the military (remember they threatened to use the military on anti-lockdown protesters) to enforce their illegal mask mandates. The left claims they want less police contact between citizens and cops, but they’re doing every thing they can to ensure the opposite occurs.

Yes the government is testing you. You fail as a citizen.

It is easier to herd a pack of cats than to get Republicans to; grasp and act, upon scientific data.

Yes, with a handful of exceptions, Republicans reject science, governance, citizenry, the rule of law.

Oh please, “rule of law”, your joking.

Never mind the thousands of “social justice” warriors that have been destroying public and private property, causing injury, mayhem and yes death to to innocent people, while not practicing social distancing or wearing a mask. Yeah, I’ll bet these folks were a bunch of Republicans, Trump supporters.

To quote sleepy Joe, “come on man”

The city of San Luis Obispo has made it to second place, now they are trying for first place, thank you Mayor Hedi Harmon.

This is a group effort. Ain’t nothing gonna stop SLO from being the best at everything we do! Watch out Paso.. we’re coming for ya, it’s game on!
