Grover Beach police seeking public’s help identifying vandals

April 8, 2022

By KAREN VELIE

Grover Beach police released photos on Friday of two boys vandalizing property in the coastal city in hopes the public will help identify the young vandals.

One photo shows a boy tagging a stone wall while the other boy stands nearby. The other photo shows the boys walking away.

Officers are asking anyone with information about the boys to call (805) 473-4511 or email Officer Scherrer at cscherrer@gbpd.org. Tips can remain confidential.

While my parents would be turning me over to the PD, their parents will defend them and they will be further empowered as a result.

Update as of 4/9/22 at 7:30am: The suspects have been identified thanks to social media and your help.

Likely next update, suspects taken into custody at 8:30am, then released at 8:45am, after they pinky sweared to never do it again.

Now they can be given the public service task of removing their tagging/graffiti and other similar vandalism around town. After that, they can pick up litter in town and on the beach.

Some of you seem to think that your feelings are more important than following laws. You feel it’s not that serious to vandalize someone’s property? It’s against the law. That’s how it works. Your feelings don’t dictate the severity of a crime. Find these children and scare the shit out of them so they don’t continue to break the law and commit greater crimes.

People that dismiss these crimes are a problem. You are normalizing this behavior and it allows it to continue.

Since you are such a stickler for the law, there is no provision in Grover’s municipal code chapter 15 for “scaring the shit out of them”. They (or parent/guardian) can be liable for costs of remediation, including administrative and law enforcement costs.

It is my “feeling” that the law enforcement and criminal justice systems should be professional and not menace our kids.

But I’m totally with you Zoie, lets use the law, not our feelings!

Apparently humans have a desire to express themselves very publicly in total anonymity. Remind you of anyone?

Are you confessing? Or are you proposing they are advocating to retain Prop 13?

Fools names and fools faces

Always appear in public places.

Although I abhor graffiti, this crime, the damage, (and it’s suspects) seem a little too insignificant for this CCN section. I think this article diminishes the seriousness of this publication.

Haha!,

We used to refer to these types as “Whiteboy wanna be’s.”

I’ll bet their parents will be proud of them.

Punks.

Why?, if stealing less than $950 from a Home Depot or the like gets you nothing what is a little graffiti going to get someone?

When you yearn to be ghetto but there’s no ghetto to be ghetto in!
