PG&E raises rates in January

When you open your PG&E bills in January, ready yourself for an unpleasant surprise. PG&E electric rates are slated to increase by $32 a month, for an medium use household.

As part of the company’s plan to improve their equipment and prevent wildfires, it is working to build a more reliable and resilient energy system. PG&E is planning to place more lines underground, which helps prevent fires and reduces maintenance costs.

The company plans to reduce wildfire risk from PG&E equipment by 94%.

In addition, PG&E plans “to invest in more innovative solutions to prepare the grid for new technologies that will make energy service more reliable for everyone, while supporting a future with more electric vehicles and battery storage.”

who even uses 250kwh a month? not regular folks. Also, Pge gave their CEOs bonuses after the camp fire before threatening bankruptcy. Solar is 1dollarwh. batteries are 1dollar wh give or take, you can make packs for cheap like Tesla; YouTube much?, only renters are screwed, and they are screwed regardless.


There is no such thing as energy independent unless you make it so, otherwise, you pay a Private or subsidized company.


Fun fact. Our defense budget is more than our nations budget and our totality of pollution on a global scale; ie, we pollute the most, from the military. Maybe, if we ‘ Socialized” our energy like Alaska, and don’t let Rich People Steal Resources, we wouldn’t be here. But we Do. Some cities aren’t Inc. some are. Weed out the rich.


Also, How can a pschzophrenic pay anything? 1 in 3 homeless are physiologically ruined and mentally insane, hence they’re covered in feces and scream randomly. Why; single moms, Poisoned food and water; causes; mutations. Tribune just said the men’s colony has 1 in 3 people with severe mental illness.


If people don’t care for each other, it’s all coming down. California isn’t liberal, Father’s have no rights. None. And if a Judge is on her period or he missed a good night’s sleep, how is democracy going to work. Not to mention Money and Lust. Epstein was friends with Trump and Clinton and Arnold and Newsome both took handouts from PGE. have to act on your own and stop complaining about infrastructure you got with, with your dollar. thank God, I have Solar, and don’t pay an Elec bill, Ever. and it’s made from Oil partially So you Boomers rejoice. why do oil prices go up when we were under a president for 4 years saying we will be independent yet oil is set by a Cartel of our Allies? Who made the Saudis, or Iran, or Isreal, or Pakistan; who gave them nukes? Hmmm.

have to buy from a private coal company who can price gouge. So, more people want coal the more it costs. So, sorry, won’t work. Maybe a water wheel with a turbine, then the EPA made by Dick Nixon will come after you.

It seems to me what they want a raise for they should of been doing already.The Government wants to mandate that you drive a electric vehicle and use only electric in your home. Can you imagine how much your electric bill will be then!! People on fixed income and need 24 hr equipment running but make just a little over the low income threshold will not be able to afford electricity. PG&E just like the gas co. have lowered there low usage threshold that you would have to not use electric about 15 days a month to fit into that low usage price. Still can’t believe our Government has no problem giving Billions to help other countries and won’t do the same for their own !!

And this is in addition to the other base rate increase that is based on your income. Something like a hundred bucks for me, lower for lower earners. And solar won’t reduce that. I wonder if the charges in the article also are regardless of if you have solar. I assume they are.


It’s ironic that our pathetic state which is supposedly the most energy “progressive” has reduced the attractiveness of solar in so many ways.

Unfortunately, April 2023 was the cutoff for NEM2 rates, where PGE gave equal credit for solar power sent/pulled to/from the grid.


After April 2023, they moved to NEM3, which means the only way solar makes sense for most people is if you also purchase a battery.

It could be if the incentives were still there and out way the cost. It’s like yrs ago they pushed Diesel trucks as the fuel was cheaper and not as polluting and everyone did their duty got on board and were sold done the road as Diesel is about $1 more than the cheapest gas. Just another bait and switch program

When are the homeless people going to start paying their fair share?

It seems like everyone with a home or job is required to pay for everything.

Didn’t we just fine PG&E for not raking the forest? Now they’re raising their rates. Something’s up. It’s almost like PG&E and the politicians are in cahoots. We should fine the politicians and charge PG&E!

How come they don’t want to pay for the power people are making with their solar panels any more? They’re paying me less and changing me more.

Ok, wait I get it. Nevermind.
