Man robs Atascadero gas station

Atascadero police are searching for man who robbed a gas station early Monday morning.
A white man in his mid twenties robbed the Shell gas station at 8000 Morro Road around 3:21 a.m. Monday.
The robber entered the store, selected some items and approached the clerk standing at the counter. The man then demanded cash from the cash register and fled westbound on foot on Morro Road.
Officers searched the area but did not find the robber.
The robber was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with black-checkered markings on it, baggy blue jeans and a pair of black and white sneakers. He was also wearing a red baseball cap under his hood.
A witness report described the robber as possibly having tattoos on both of his hands that contained large block style lettering.
The Atascadero Police Department requests that anyone with information about the robbery contact the investigations unit at (805) 461-5051.
