Paso Robles couple arrested
January 10, 2010
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff deputies arrested a Paso Robles couple on charges relating to domestic violence and firearms possession.
Deputies responded just before noon on Sunday to a domestic violence call in the 3000 block of Nacimiento Lake Drive in Paso Robles, following reports of physical violence and gun fire.
Machel Schoepf, 38, was taken into custody after she allegedly battered her fiance, Lloyd E. Cockayne, 39, brandished a loaded firearm, and discharged a round into the ground during the course of an argument.
Deputies booked Schoepf into County Jail on two felony and one misdemeanor counts. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Cockayne, a felon on supervised state parole, was also arrested after further investigation by deputies revealed a second firearm and a police style baton in his possession, both parole violations. Cockayne was booked into County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
