Four-way race for mayor shaping up in San Luis Obispo

May 6, 2010

The November ballot for mayor of San Luis Obispo could turn out to be quite crowded. City councilwoman Jan Marx recently announced her intention to seek the office.

Now the Chamber of Commerce is saying that former city councilman Paul Brown “is assembling his past election team and will announce his candidacy very soon.” [E-Insider]

The Chamber newsletter also speculates that councilman and former mayor Allen Settle may be spending less time in his Arroyo Grande home and more time at the Drake Circle residence as he considers a possible mayoral bid.

Finally, former councilwoman Christine Mulholland, who ran for mayor and lost in 2008, has not ruled out running in November.

Meanwhile, the current mayor, Dave Romero, forced out by term limits, is said to be thinking of running for a city council seat.

Personally, I would love to see Christine run… I think we would see some real positive changes…. right now, we don’t need any more of what we got.

“Meanwhile, the current mayor, Dave Romero, forced out by term limits, is said to be thinking of running for a city council seat” Please Dave, do us all a favor and move on to the retirement home where you belong. Better yet, go play checkers at Senior Citizen Center. But don’t run for office again, let someone with some new ideas and energy take that place. If fact, Allen, don’t you have better things to do like grade papers? Enough with all of you, get a real life and let some new blood come in and correct the issues and foolishness you have all created over the years,

NOW HEAR THIS, The City Council is who hires the City Manager. The City Manager hires the Police Chief. The way these public servants have things set up, the City Council can not fire anyone that the City Manager hires. They can only fire the City Manager. If we are going to deal with Police Chief Linden, then we have to send a message to the City Council who has to send a message to the city manager. ASK QUESTIONS of these candidates, it has to start somewhere.
