Helicopter crashes on Highway 101

September 3, 2010

A helicopter crashed and flipped on Highway 101 in Salinas shortly after 6 a.m. injuring the pilot who walked away from the crash.

The pilot complained of suffering vertigo just before the crash. He was carrying a load of water in a helicopter used primarily to spray crops.

California Highway Patrol officers said the 62-year-old pilot suffered from non-life threatening injuries.

Hubby and I saw this same copter 2 weeks ago when returning from Salinas area. We noticed his flying was a bit unstable then. We were not surprised to hear this news. It’s good he is able to walk away.

Vertigo usually equals flying in the fog.
