Drunken driver flees officer with kids in car

January 16, 2012

Jorge Cabrera

A 21-year-old man was arrested after a stop for failing to have his children in seat belts turned into a high-speed chase through Shandon shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday.

Jose Cabrera sped through Shandon neighborhoods running stop signs and causing a motorcyclist to collide with a vehicle. The biker suffered minor injuries when he was ejected from his bike.

The car chase ended when Cabrera crashed into a boulder. He then deserted his children and took off on foot hopping fences and running through backyards.

CHP officers found Cabrera hiding near the Shandon riverbed.

Officers booked him into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of felony child endangerment, DUI and a felony warrant.

The focus should not be on LE or race but on the perpetrators actions. A common tactic by lawyers is to turn the conversation away for the real issue and unlawful act.

Ted Slanders

What’s with all this Racist crap being thrown around? There was no racist thought coming from Slowerfaster, et al, but a certain faction took it in that direction for their own Satanic purpose! Shameful!

If you’re a Christian, and even if the RACE CARD was played, so what? Be it known that our God was a RACIST and BIGOT to the extreme! Therefore, our God has set an example for us TRUE Christians to follow in this respect!

The first commandment “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” condemns those who worship any other than the biblical Hebrew God, Yahweh. (Deut 5:4) Racism? You bet!

God forbids marriages with those of other tribes. (Deut 7:3) Bigotry? Yes!

If you hear of a city where another god is worshiped, then destroy everyone in the city (even the cattle) and burn it down. (Deut 13:12-16) Pure bigotry and racism, praise!

Our God will kill the Egyptian children to show that he puts “a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.” (Exodus 11:7) Can you spell “bigotry and racism?” Sure you can!

Do not allow others to worship a different god. God commands to conquer them and destroy their religious property. (Exodus 23:24) Pure racism!

The above RACIST and BIGOTRY acts by OUR God are but a few represented within scripture. Our Hebrew/Christian God has allowed Christianity to be a racial- superiority religion to any other belief system, period! Our Bible is loaded with divine orders from our beloved God to kill those of other ethnic groups and to purge their ranks of false worshipers. God is racist when He continually ordered the massacre of women, children, and infants who happened not to have been born in the nation that he had chosen to be his “special people.”

Fellow Christians, live with it, or get another religion!

willie

I don’t enjoy pissing people off, I don’t enjoy getting even, it is however my pleasure to bash any snake using a Bible, I see your manipulation, practice and testing potentially harmful to future innocents.

I am convinced that you are good at plus enjoy provoking a person against himself and twisting or portraying others what you really are, which suggest to me that you must have a LONG TRAIL of having done the same to many others!

Nevertheless, I will gladly accommodate my usefulness to you funny man, when you or your sheeps chose to call my name because you enjoy doing it.

Little willie as you put it! Anytime little monkey!

Cindy

Opps Sorry willie, I thought I was giving ted a thumbs down and accidentally clicked your post instead. You should have one extra thumbs up and one less thumbs down ;)

Ted Slanders

My dearest Cindy,

Yes, that’s about all you can do relative to the topic of our God was racist and a bigot! A “hit and run” response with a thumbs down, and then run! lol

At least you’re learning your limitations when it comes to TRUE Christianity, and therefore, remaining silent to save further embarrassment! You do this because of the FACT that if you had the audacity to engage Brother Ted, you would once again receive another one of my patented “Jesus Slap Downs” directed in your behalf!!!!

Now, run along and perform your womanly duties as our bible directly prescribes.

Thanking you in advance.

willie

Cindy

Its okay

I know my posts are improper

but I find it fitting

I will cease

the new messiah (teddy sanders) is doing just fine

I don’t need to do a thing

Slowerfaster

willie , I will ask Brother Slanders to cool it and ‘free’ willie .

He is just so passionate concerning the salvation of others .

Ted Slanders

Brother Slowerfaster,

Yes, i received your message, and I will “free willie” for the time being.

But, as you’re aware, as a TRUE Christian, I am to spread the Gospel of Christ, therefore, I will try again at a later date.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19 )

When willie posited “I will cease the new messiah”, referring to me, has a nice ring to it, wouldn’t you say?

willie

I think we all base our observations by the totality of what we see and hear causing our defensive instincts to spring up and be bias at times. I am guilty of that myself and in some cases it has saved or protected me.

But what I have personally learn in my lifetime is, you can never really tell or know the qualities of a person “by appearance alone” even if they wear an expensive 3 piece suit.

willie

Let me also add that you cannot tell the qualities of a person by grubby appearance and or race who work hard and may give the shirt off his back to help another out of human compassion, nor a person who identify himself with a great sage and “uses” a Holy Doctrine and internet facts for credibility to suit his own agenda!

Citizen

Typo, Slower/Faster, and others automatically pull the race card when in their feeble minds they think someone has said something politically incorrect.

I’m part Hispanic, so what does that do to your “racist” rants? I’m also anti-gangster, anti-crime, anti-child endangerment, and anti-false IDs and lack of driver’s licenses. Yes, I’m in favor of sealing the border.

I’ve been in a hit and run car accident, and left bleeding by the side of the road, by Hispanics that were never seen again (I suspect they were illegals). I guess you people think that is a racist statement, but citizens usually stay and give you their insurance information. In my mind, that’s looking at behavior, not skin color.

Remember, the CHP officer in this case was also Hispanic. This case had to do with someone who runs when stopped for a seat belt violation. If you read the KSBY version of the story, the officer suspected he was on meth and marijuana.

Tatts? Reminds me of the time a tatted man’s picture was in the paper, and people were commenting about the gangster. Someone wrote in, upset that everyone assumed because he was Hispanic, that he was in a gang. Then someone else pointed out the tatt across his forehead that said MS-13.

Typoqueen

“I’m part Hispanic, so what does that do to your “racist” rants?”

Yeah yeah, and you have friends that are black, I get it. I wasn’t ranting BTW, a simple statement, that’s all, not a ‘rant’. Your statement above is a ‘rant’.

“I’ve been in a hit and run car accident, and left bleeding by the side of the road, by Hispanics”

And there you go, confirming my point. I don’t blame you for being upset about getting hit by a hit and run driver but I don’t believe you have to classify them and persecute an entire race. Someone jerk-wad hit you. If it had been a white guy I’m sure you wouldn’t have said, ‘ I’ve been in a hit and run car accident, and left bleeding by the side of the road, by whites’.

“but citizens usually stay and give you their insurance information.”

Stats to back that? Link? You mentioned ‘Hispanics’ hit you, so I guess you mean that Hispanics aren’t citizens. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt. If I was afraid of losing my family and/or being stereo typed I might take off as well. Not saying that’s right but some of them have a lot to lose and many are misinformed, they might just be afraid. Again, I’m not justifying such action but I can understand (in some cases) their dilemma.

“Remember, the CHP officer in this case was also Hispanic”

Okay,,and your point is?

I stand by my earlier statement.

Citizen

How can one be called a racist against their own race? Besides, Hispanics are Caucasian. Same as “whites”. Did you know that?

Citizen

If it had been a white guy who did the “hit and run”, I would have assumed that it was someone in trouble with the law or drunk, who didn’t want to wait around for the police. It’s usually called deductive reasoning, but I guess you would call that racism, too.

Typoqueen

But would you have said ‘ I’ve been in a hit and run car accident, and left bleeding by the side of the road, by whites’?

Slowerfaster

I’m betting that he would not use the racially charged word “whites”.

He’d say “Honkies”, or mabe “Crackers”.

^^^^ insert ‘humor’ emoticon ^^^^

Citizen

Sorry, the officer may have an Italian name, not Hispanic. Look at the picture in the Tribune to see the tatts around his neck.

Slowerfaster

To “Citizen” …

My first comment at 6:48 PM on 1-16 had NO reference to race or racism at all.

It was YOUR comment of 9:09 PM on 1-16 that introduced the ‘strawman’ argument of race: ” …a California Dream Act potential student.” and “Besides, if he is illegal …”.

I call that racism.

Deal with it..

You wrote them. Defend these remarks. Your being ‘part’ Hispanic doesn’t mean anything.

I don’t ‘automatically’ make such a charge, and I reason that TQ does not either.

Citizen

Slowerfaster. I am definitely against the California Dream Act for this reason: We should instead provide a fast track for children of illegal immigrants who have graduated from a California high school to become citizens. Once they are citizens , then they can receive instate tuition and grants and scholarships. Then, when they graduate from a college or university, they will also be able to work in the US legally, something they can’t do under the Ca. dream act. They will also be able to get a Ca. driver’s license and vote. Sorry, I think the Ca. Dream Act is a sad joke that taxpayers will finance.

By starting programs to “aid” people here illegally that do not result in legal status, we not only encourage more illegal immigration, we perpetuate a two tier society of “them and us” which encourages non-integration into American society.

If you think that mentioning the term “illegal” is racist, then you have me there.

shelworth

So, you’re saying if he was white the police would have ignored him? LOL!

oto

Interesting choice for the sheriffs. Wonder what made them decide to stop him? Wonder what made them decide to engage him in a high-speed chase? They had his license number. Didn’t they see his kids in the car? Who knows.

In the meantime, peace and greetings on Martin Luther King Day. Here’s a snippet from King’s “Letters from a Birmingham Jail:”

Sometimes a law is just on its face and unjust in its application. For instance, I have been arrested on a charge of parading without a permit. Now, there is nothing wrong in having an ordinance which requires a permit for a parade. But such an ordinance becomes unjust when it is used to maintain segregation and to deny citizens the First-Amendment privilege of peaceful assembly and protest.

I hope you are able to see the distinction I am trying to point out. In no sense do I advocate evading or defying the law, as would the rabid segregationist. That would lead to anarchy. One who breaks an unjust law must do so openly, lovingly, and with a willingness to accept the penalty. I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.

Of course, there is nothing new about this kind of civil disobedience. It was evidenced sublimely in the refusal of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to obey the laws of Nebuchadnezzar, on the ground that a higher moral law was at stake. It was practiced superbly by the early Christians, who were willing to face hungry lions and the excruciating pain of chopping blocks rather than submit to certain unjust laws of the Roman Empire. To a degree, academic freedom is a reality today because Socrates practiced civil disobedience. In our own nation, the Boston Tea Party represented a massive act of civil disobedience.

We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was “legal” and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was “illegal.” It was “illegal” to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler’s Germany. Even so, I am sure that, had I lived in Germany at the time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers. If today I lived in a Communist country where certain principles dear to the Christian faith are suppressed, I would openly advocate disobeying that country’s antireligious laws.

Slowerfaster

Thanks, oto.

“Letters from a Birmingham Jail” are as illustrative of what a REAL America would wish to be , and SHOULD be by now.

SO amazing after FIFTY years, SIXTY YEARS ! that we are STILL under the stigma of BLATANT RACISTS here.

I marched, with Charles Evers, with Jesse Jackson, with Ralph Abernathy, with John Conyers, with Studs Terkel, with Gene McCarthy, with Bobby.

Any of you cowardly FASCISTS think I will give up now ?

willie

Slowerfaster

I can relate with Oto

But

Nothing more than a “VERY SIMPLE”‘”VERY PURE & SIMPLE” question to someone who have live that era and personally met one of the person you mentioned, what are you trying to say????????

I and I am guessing other do not quite understand what your trying to say!!!!

danika

I think he is trying to say we are racists. Why he thinks that remains unclear. I am sure there is more to follow.

Typoqueen

How did you get that out of his statement? There are racists here, there’s no doubt about that but he didn’t mention any names.

Slowerfaster

Correct TQ !

This falls into the category: “If the shoe fits….” and ” Raise it up the flagpole, and see who salutes ! “.

Certain ones indict themselves with their defensiveness. We just then have to observe.

Citizen

Tattoos around his neck, a previous $10,000 warrant, drunk or on drugs at 10 am, kids not buckled in, this is a gangsta and a California Dream Act potential student.

As to the chase, I bet that the CHP was trying to make sure this guy didn’t get back on the highway so he could crash at high speed and kill lots of people. Just my guess. I’m glad the CHP stopped him. Besides, if he is illegal, they would never have found him. False ID, false address, hide the car, and drive drunk with your kids over and over again.

willie

Citizen

I remember a collegue (LE) telling me approximately in the late 1970″s that the policy in pursuit changed allowing the officer discretion to cease the pursuit if there was apparent the fleeing vehicle would harm innocent people (externally).

Its hard to second guess this one, I am sure that Jorge Cabrera actions surprised the officer.

Another thought is the officer have no idea whether those kids were his or kidnapped.

Just thoughts, neither pro or con to anyone.

Slowerfaster

Oh, cut it with all your RACIST CRAP.

Deal with the PERSON, not the group !

What about this guy’s kids ? I bet that you HATE them just as much.

Your statements confirm that you are one disgusting individual. I hope that we NEVER meet !

RACIST Piece of **** !

Typoqueen

Sadly, they just don’t get it. Most of the people in this forum would never see anything racist in those statements.

Slowerfaster

Thank you, TQ !

You are a re-affirmation !

Racists are so, so sublimely stupid in their own sluggish prejudices, that they almost never see how their minds have been strangled.

willie

Typo

It is very odd, if you are racist, you see racist through your own eyes and it is preceivible to the others.

A neighbor of mine I have known for approximately 25 years use to work for a friend of mine, a very good person.

His son is 6 feet tall and is loaded with tatoos, built like a fighter, he doesn’t know me, my pastor told me to introduce myself to him and I did with heart and eyes of love as if he was my own son which I feel “sincere”

He treatedme like a long lost uncle, but when I think about it, what if I did not know him and stereotyped him as a thug, he would have seen it in my eyes and behavior.

So, go out the world with a loving heart, let you and them decide the outcome and set your own presidence!

Typoqueen

willie, I didn’t mentioned you. I was responding to Slowerfaster regarding Citizen’s post.

danika

I disagree (of course, you all saw that coming). Most of the people in this forum are intelligent, loving, giving people who disagree with you often. Just because we don’t agree does not make us “racists”. We consider the source, just as you do.

Am I racist? I like to think not.

Typoqueen

As I said to willie, I didn’t mention you. But it is too bad that you don’t see the amount of racism in this forum. Did you read Citizen’s post? When I see a picture of what appears to be an Hispanic person in this forum, I can count on posts like Citizen’s that are sprinkled with racism. It used to be pretty shocking to me that the people that post here didn’t see it right under their noses. Every time I point it out Cindy goes crazy but it’s here and it’s really too bad. I only hope that this forum isn’t an example of the the country. I don’t believe it is but when I see the harsh treatment of our prez then it makes me think that perhaps it is.

Cindy

“I only hope that this forum isn’t an example of the the country.” “when I see the harsh treatment of our prez then it makes me think that perhaps it is.”

TOO FUNNY ! We the people by majority, voted Obama into his present office, didn’t we? Was the country racist when we voted a half black man and his black family into the White House? Now that the majority are unhappy with his performance, it couldn’t be that he is doing a lousy job, nope couldn’t be that, it must be that we are racist !!

You sound just as foolish here as you do when you insist that we don’t like illegals because they are brown rather than that they are over taxing our schools systems, our welfare systems our ER’s, our low cost housing and all our social services in general. Over 40% of the CA school systems are burdened with illegals and anchor babies, no doubt if the illegal majority were European, we wouldn’t mind paying more taxes…..right? NOT…

danika

I do see racism in these posts; I also see alot of “bashing” that has nothing to do with race. it is the nature of people.

doggin

A total disregard for the law, endangering innocent children and almost killing a motorcyclist., Maybe he’s one of SLO counties unlicensed, uninsured, no comprehend’e stop or speed signs that law enforcement cant touch because your kind considers it profiling if he’s pulled over. Hope you’d feel as compassionate if one of your family members was fatally injured by an individual like this..

Typoqueen

So every large Hispanic with tats should be pulled over,,okay, I get it.

BTW there was nothing in Slowerfaster’s post that said that someone that is speeding or going through stops signs shouldn’t be pulled over.

Hmm wonder why you’re so defensive. Guess you didn’t see anything racist in that post either. No surprise there.

Slowerfaster

Sorry, but with kids in the car, a chase should not have ensued…especially not with the children not strapped in their seatbelts. This “Rambo” attitude put the children and other drivers at greater risk.

Obviously, Cabrera created the situation; but whoever the LEO was compounded it and it could have resulted in a much greater tragedy.

Cindy

I have to agree. This guy is 21 which means he had very young children in the car. When the LE saw the way he was driving to get away from them, running stop signs and leading them on a high speed chase, they should not have pursued. When it’s obvious that a runner is putting other peoples lives in jeopardy, BACK OFF, it’s not worth catching a drug dealer if it costs innocent lives. I should think the guy on that was injured on the motor cycle would have been a clue to forget the pride and catch the guy later.

I feel very sorry for those young children. They deserve to be loved and cared for by their father. I’ve never heard of a parent putting their children in imminent danger like that and again, the children weren’t strapped in and the LE had to know that the only way they were going to catch him was if he crashed, SHAME ON THEM, not a good job, it’s no thanks to them that the children weren’t seriously injured.

VillageVixen

Most likely all the charges but one will be dropped. I’ve seen way too many cases of child endangerment that have been dropped once the felon gets in the courthouse. I wish we had a law that child endangerment can not be dropped when drugs/alcohol/weapons/reckless driving etc. are involved.
