California transgender law set to take effect

A law requiring California public schools to let transgender students use sex-segregated facilities is set to take effect Jan. 1, despite a legal challenge. [KTVU]

The law will allow students identifying as transgender to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of the sex with which they identify.

A coalition of conservative groups called Privacy for All Students is currently gathering signatures in attempt to launch a referendum to repeal the law on the November ballot. Privacy for All Students is reported to have gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures, and counties have until Jan. 8 to verify them.

If the campaign achieves the mandatory number of signatures, it will trigger a suspension of the law.

Nonetheless, the California School Boards Associations is moving ahead with its implementation. The association advised schools to handle transgender facility requests on a case-by-case basis, but also to prepare for making private changing arrangements for both transgender students and for classmates who object to changing with them.

“We did strike a balance between the sensitivities associated with gender identity, not only for those students who experience a change in their gender status but the students who would be in the same facilities, in the same classrooms and on the same teams,” said association General Counsel Keith Bray.

Years ago when I worked in San Francisco for the state of California the management sent us a memo detailing the rules for a transgender situation that was occurring as a man was taking the initial steps in sex reassignment. Because he had to live as a woman for 2 years or so before surgery and being sympathetic to females, they designated a bathroom that “she” would use on the 4 th floor.


The result of this mandate was that all other adult females stopped using that bathroom. The same thing will happen the day a teenage boy is permitted to shower with people’s daughters regardless of his state of gender identity.

This is a great law! Now all of us women won’t have to wait in long lines for the women’s bathroom anymore. When we gotta go, we’ll just identify ourselves as transgender and go into the men’s room.

Hey, never thought of that. I am not sure bathroom usage will ever be the same. Change your gender when the line is too long and jump into the other! Wow there is a silver lining after all the flashing of body parts that no one wants to see.


In all seriousness if one thing is very clear this takes us one step farther to “you do not own your own body” the government does. When you break down “difference” you destroy individual liberty. Bad people are the same as good people. Mentally sick people are the same as mentally healthy people. What? Acknowledging differences is what keeps us alert and safe. Seeing differences is not wrong, it is what you do about it. When safety is involved your approach may be different than with a neighbor.


Each of us was born with rights given by God but if you choose to lose your rights by bad behavior then you must work to get those rights back based with better behavior. Actions have good or bad consequences and that is our teacher, a good teacher of how to behave.


Our government is weakening and sickifying our young people, turning then into weak, unthinking robots that are neutered unable to create healthy families that can produce innovative, free and prosperous children.


This is how you forever change a culture and destroy like the Romans did. Good luck with the bathroom thing it does more than eliminate gender but eliminates the time honored protection of our little ones from sexual abuse.

Trans gender people are more often targets of sexual predators and tragically victims of abuse during adolescere , perpetrators of violence against TG like this often blame their victims , imagine that.

I’m curious as to how one identifies oneself as an official transgender, thus allowing him/her to use “facilities they most identify with?” What do you get, some kind of ID card?

What’s to prevent abuses of such a law? Are there really enough transgender individuals to warrant such legislation?

I’m stunned at the direction in which this state is going. In the absence of political morality and ethical behavior, we are experiencing decision making that truly boggles the mind at times.

What’s next? I’m afraid to ask.

With all the things that need to be addressed this is what the State Legislature and Gov Moonbeam came up with. CA is truely the land of fruit and nuts. This law will be very abused: I can imagine the entire football team declaring that they are transgender so that they can hang out in the girls locker room. This country is rapidly giing to hell.
