Cal Poly student killed in car crash

A Cal Poly student was killed in a car crash in Santa Maria last weekend.
Sometime Friday night, William Rogers, 24, was traveling up a hill near Clark Avenue and Dominion Road before he crashed through a fence and flipped his Chevrolet Suburban. His truck was not spotted until approximately 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
Rogers was declared dead at the scene. Investigators said it is not known at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
Rogers was a wine and viticulture senior from Tahoe City.
Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong offering his condolences and 24-hour counseling services.
“In this time of loss, it is appropriate to recall that The Mustang Way asks us to ‘embrace one another’ because ‘we are one community,’ ” Armstrong said in the letter. “We care about each member of Cal Poly.”
