Nipomo man killed in crash with big-rig
December 14, 2014
A 21-year-old Nipomo man is dead after he crashed into a big-rig on Highway 166 near New Cuyama on Saturday.
Shortly before 6 a.m., the Kia Rio the man was driving westbound drifted into the path of the eastbound big-rig. The driver of the semi-truck, a 33-year-old Michigan woman, attempted to avoid crashing into the Kia, but the Kia slammed into the left side of her truck.
The man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol believe the Nipomo man was driving under the influence of alcohol.
