Dan Carpenter announces bid for SLO County supervisor seat
March 20, 2015
San Luis Obispo Councilman Dan Carpenter announced Friday his candidacy for the San Luis Obispo County supervisor seat currently held by Adam Hill.
Earlier this week, Carpenter filed papers required to start campaigning. Carpenter joins former Grover Beach Mayor Debbie Peterson and Hill in a race for the District 3 seat. The district includes a portion of San Luis Obispo, Edna Valley, Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach and Grover Beach.
Carpenter has served on the San Luis Obispo City Council since he was first elected in 2010. Prior to joining the city council, he was a member of the city’s planning commission and cultural heritage committee.
“One thing I’ve learned in my tenure on council is how important an independent, pragmatic, common sense approach is in local governance,” Carpenter said. “I will bring that to a board that has a recent history of partisan polarization and ideological agendas.”
Carpenter plans to develop his platform in the coming weeks utilizing voter input and his experience in land use planning.
“I think change is needed and I believe it’s my time” Carpenter said, “New ideas and a fresh approach to civility are desperately needed to ensure the residents of our county are not only heard, but respected”
The primary election will be held on June 7, 2016. For more information you can call Carpenter at (805)704-8567 or email him at dlcslo@aol.com.
