San Luis Obispo Councilman Dan Carpenter announced Friday his candidacy for the San Luis Obispo County supervisor seat currently held by Adam Hill.

Earlier this week, Carpenter filed papers required to start campaigning. Carpenter joins former Grover Beach Mayor Debbie Peterson and Hill in a race for the District 3 seat. The district includes a portion of San Luis Obispo, Edna Valley, Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach and Grover Beach.

Carpenter has served on the San Luis Obispo City Council since he was first elected in 2010. Prior to joining the city council, he was a member of the city’s planning commission and cultural heritage committee.

“One thing I’ve learned in my tenure on council is how important an independent, pragmatic, common sense approach is in local governance,” Carpenter said. “I will bring that to a board that has a recent history of partisan polarization and ideological agendas.”

Carpenter plans to develop his platform in the coming weeks utilizing voter input and his experience in land use planning.

“I think change is needed and I believe it’s my time” Carpenter said, “New ideas and a fresh approach to civility are desperately needed to ensure the residents of our county are not only heard, but respected”

The primary election will be held on June 7, 2016. For more information you can call Carpenter at (805)704-8567 or email him at dlcslo@aol.com.

Dan, I’m sure is a ‘nice guy’. At least he sounds that way to me. Would be a good neighbor.

Debbie Peterson is likewise charming and very pleasant in person. Another ‘nice’ person.

But county supervisor is not a job for ‘Miss Congeniality’.

Either would be pushovers for COLAB, their hired stooges, and the suckers that circulate around them.

The loud voices of fools would get attention, drowning out other reasonable people.

That’s the tactic of these regressives …to be the loudmouths and then claim they’re not being heard or listened to.

Adam Hill knows that type and is unafraid to confront these morons.

The others, despite and maybe because of their nicety and civility, would be weak roundheels.

Pure blather. Debbie was criticized, by none other than Adam, for not being collegial enough. Dan has roundly criticized fellow council members and lobbyists before the council during public meetings.

Utter hypocrisy to suggest either is weak when Adam himself and the media have labeled them too unbending for not yielding to the entrenched.

Hill lackyism at its finest here.

“Adam Hill knows that type” Nice. And what “type” would that be?

I wouldn’t think such basic stereotyping would be your cup of tea.

My opinion, Dan or Debbie won’t have a problem holding their own….and I suspect that you know that.

Maybe you should consider attending the annual COLAB fundraiser next week. I think you’ll be surprised at who you’ll see there.

Slowfaster, what you’re suggesting is exactly the opposite of what the public record shows. Mayor Peterson made some very powerful enemies representing her constituency by standing up Supervisor Hill and other special interests. Hill engineered her removal from APCD because exposed flaws in their dunes scheme. She was ultimately vindicated when, after spending huge sums on litigation, they adopted the position she had been advocating for from the beginning. Then Hill and company went after her as mayor when she began cleaning out the corruption in the sanitation district. Anyone who believes that this tough-as-nails woman can’t stand up against any special interest pressure not in the best interest of the people of our county really should pay closer attention.

Mr. Hill: Please consider not running again.

Why does Ant Hill celebrate Napoleon’s birthday?

While I cannot wait for the voting public to oust Hill, I cannot help but wonder what Mr. Carpenter means by his quote:

“I think change is needed and I believe it’s my time” Carpenter said, “New ideas and a fresh approach to civility are desperately needed to ensure the residents of our county are not only heard, but respected”

I wish he would have been more honest and instead of pretending his ideas are new and fresh (he has had them for a long while now!) he should have just called a spade a spade and said, the people deserve better than Adam Hill, and I can fill that role.

New and fresh? No, not new, not fresh… we need sound thought. We need good judgement. We need honesty. These are not new and fresh for most people (barring, of course, Hill and his ilk).

We need OLD and TRUSTED ideas. We need to go BACK TO BASICS. Basics of Civility. Basics of Honesty. Basics of Integrity and Respect. Lord, I hope those are not “new” ideas.

Does anyone know what happened yesterday (Thursday) between Hill and Carpenter? Word has it that they were at a public event together and Hill allegedly got into Carpenter’s face about something. His legislative assistant had to yank Hill back because he was getting visibly angry.

And it’s not even 2016 yet!

Maybe Hill feels he has the “power” to act like a jerk in public? Could it be that he simply lacks the self-control typically associated with being an adult? Perhaps it’s becoming more obvious now that he’s feeling some pressure? Might it be because he has become a fat tub of goo and he now feels self-conscious so he over compensates by trying to act like a portly thug?

In this day and age, I’m sure it won’t be long before some video finds its way to a website near you!

Ass Hill is an embarrassment! The fact that he is still in orifice is why I just find it hard to care any more.

You have a handy forum where you could invite both on .

Why don’t you do that, instead of throwing out a blind speculation that only feeds the rumor beast ?

No … too easy to not do your job.

Not speculation. It happened.

I am not throwing out speculation, SF. I heard a story about Hill and Carpenter. I was wondering if anyone had heard it and knew the details. I now have confirmation from at least two sources that it did happen on Thursday.

And what if I were to “invite both on” my “handy forum.” To what point? Would you honestly expect Supervisor Hill to admit publicly, “Yeah, I lost it (again). I lost my temper over something stupid. Glad my legislative assistant was there to step in and keep it from escalating.”

You saw the video of Supervisor Hill from last week on this sight. You;ve seen other videos on this site depicting similar behavior. So why is it so hard for you to believe that the supervisor yet again lost his cool?

No….to easy to ignore the facts.

Adam, Isoroku Yamamoto’s quote seems so apropos as the result of your behavior…

“I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

Him being the voting public and all those who would oppose you.
