Atascadero man accused of brutally attacking stranger

San Luis Obispo police arrested a 25-year-old Atascadero man for the brutal assault of a 20-year-old woman police found covered in blood Friday morning.
Shortly before 7 a.m., the victim was leaving her apartment when she was allegedly confronted by Moore. Moore shot the victim with a Taser, forced her to the ground and began punching her in the face, police said.
The unnamed victim fought back stabbing Moore multiple times in the upper body with a small knife she had on her key chain. Moore then fled the scene.
About 15 minutes later, officers found Moore, who the victim said was a stranger she had noticed several times before, hiding in the creek area behind Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
“Moore was unknown to the victim, however, she had seen him in the apartment complex on two other recent occasions in the early morning hours,” San Luis Obispo Police wrote in a press release. “She had called SLOPD on one of those occasions because she was concerned about his strange behavior.”
The victim suffered moderate facial injuries and lacerations to her hands. Both Moore and the victim were treated and later released from the hospital.
Officers arrested Moore on charges of attempted murder, stalking, burglary, assault and assault with a stun gun and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $500,000.
