Person killed in crash near Santa Maria

A person died in a head-on collision Sunday morning east of Santa Maria.
The crash occurred near Sisquoc at Santa Maria Mesa Road and Tepusquet Road, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The vehicles collided around 9:45 a.m.
KCOY reports a driver of a yellow Volkswagen was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Investigators say both vehicles sustained major damage. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
